We are searching for a responsible, hard-working developer to fill this remote position on our Security - Linux Platforms team. This team is mainly responsible for development and maintenance of the Elastic Endpoint (on Linux), auditbeat and packetbeat. Common development focuses includes things like general performance, memory usage, CPU utilization, as well as overall architecture of event handling, communications, & other actions that are common across all platforms. This team extensively uses kprobes and ebpf for much of the data collection and an understanding of how they work or using them in the past is a great benefit. This means any experience across OS's is going to be a great add to the team. Candidates also must be self-motivated, independent and have an eagerness to learn and work as a team.
We believe in the philosophy of - Want to build a new feature or have an idea - Chase it down. Find a bug - Fix it. Then open a PR, ask some truly phenomenal people to review it, fine tune it, and merge it.
What you'll do:
- Write, code review, and unit test cross-platform code in a multi-threaded endpoint security application
- Work with our various security teams to rapidly integrate new features
- Communicate and document detail of new features with team members and quality assurance engineers
- Validating software quality by crafting & maintaining unit tests
- Provide development support and debugging to our best-in-class support team when needed
- Research and apply relevant emerging software development technologies in a risk adverse manner
What we need from you:
- Proficient in Golang with some proficiency in Python and C/C++
- Experience debugging or performance tuning
- An interest in performance testing and tooling is a big plus
- Experience with some of our tools is a plus: GitHub, Google Tests, pytest, Buildkite, cmake, behave (Python BDD)
- Elasticsearch experience is a definite nice-to-have as well as previous security experience!
