Himalayas is a remote jobs platform, not a recruiter or staffing agency. Companies post their open remote positions on Himalayas, and you apply directly to those companies.
How does Himalayas work?
Himalayas connects two groups of people: job seekers looking for remote work, and companies hiring remote employees.
Companies create profiles on Himalayas and post their open roles. Job seekers browse those listings, filter by skills, timezone, salary, and location, and then apply directly to the company. Himalayas does not make hiring decisions, conduct interviews, or manage employment - the companies do.
Here is what happens when you use Himalayas:
- You create a free account and build your profile
- You search for remote jobs using filters like timezone, skills, salary range, and seniority level
- You find a job you want and click "Apply"
- You are taken to the company's own application page (or an in-platform application form) to submit your application
- The company reviews your application and contacts you directly if they want to move forward
Himalayas is the platform that helps you discover the opportunity. The hiring relationship is between you and the company.
Is Himalayas free?
Yes. Creating an account, browsing jobs, applying to jobs, and using the job application tracker are all completely free. There are no hidden fees to apply for jobs on Himalayas.
Himalayas also offers a paid subscription called Himalayas Plus starting at $9/month that unlocks additional AI-powered career tools like unlimited resume generation, cover letter writing, mock interviews, and AI headshots. These tools are optional. You do not need them to search for or apply to jobs.
For a full comparison of free vs. paid features, see Himalayas Plus pricing and features.

How is Himalayas different from a recruiter?
A recruiter is a person or agency that works on behalf of a company to find and screen candidates. Recruiters contact you, conduct interviews, and manage the hiring pipeline.
Himalayas is a platform; it's a website and set of tools. It does not contact you on behalf of companies, it does not screen your application, and it does not make hiring decisions. When you apply through Himalayas, your application goes directly to the company that posted the job.
If you receive a welcome email from Himalayas after creating an account, that is just an onboarding email from the platform. You do not need to reply with your resume. Instead, use the platform to search for jobs and apply to companies directly.
Where do the jobs on Himalayas come from?
Jobs on Himalayas come from two sources:
- Direct postings: Companies create accounts on Himalayas and post their open roles directly
- Sourced listings: Remote positions aggregated from company career pages and applicant tracking systems, then filtered and reviewed for quality before publication
All jobs go through a review process before appearing on the platform. Listings that appear suspicious, spammy, or unverifiable are flagged and removed. For more on how this works, see How remote jobs work on Himalayas.
How do I get started?
- Create a free account using your email or Google sign-in
- Complete your profile so employers can find you and you get better job recommendations
- Browse remote jobs and apply to any that interest you
- Optionally, explore AI career tools if you want help with resumes, cover letters, or interview prep
For a detailed walkthrough, see Getting started as a job seeker.
Is Himalayas legit?
Yes. Himalayas is a legitimate remote job board operated by Himalayas Remote Jobs Pty Ltd (ABN 89 663 721 088), an Australian company founded in 2020. The platform features 25,000+ company profiles and 100,000+ remote job listings, including positions from well-known remote employers.
Himalayas is not a recruiter, staffing agency, or intermediary. It is a job board where companies post their open positions, and job seekers apply directly to those companies. Himalayas does not contact you on behalf of employers, does not make hiring decisions, and does not take a cut of your salary.
All job listings go through a review process before publication. Listings that appear suspicious, spammy, or from unverifiable companies are flagged and removed. For more on how jobs are vetted, see How remote jobs work on Himalayas.
Is Himalayas safe to use?
Yes. Himalayas implements these security and privacy protections:
- Encryption: The platform uses HTTPS encryption for all connections
- Password security: Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Email privacy: Your email address is never publicly displayed on your profile
- Profile control: You can set your profile to private at any time from Settings > Privacy
- Data deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings
- No data selling: Himalayas does not sell your personal data to third parties
For full details on data handling and privacy controls, see Account and Privacy Settings.
Is Himalayas a scam?
No. Himalayas is a real company that has been operating since 2020 and features legitimate remote job listings from thousands of companies. Here is why you can trust the platform:
- All jobs are reviewed before publication
- The team actively removes suspicious or expired listings
- Job seekers are never charged fees to browse or apply
- The platform never asks for payment information during signup
- You apply directly to companies. Himalayas does not handle your application or personal details beyond what you choose to share in your profile
- Users can report expired or suspicious listings directly from the job page by clicking "Job expired?" or "Suggest an edit"
Does Himalayas cost money?
Browsing jobs, creating an account, applying to jobs, tracking applications, and setting up job alerts are all completely free. There are no hidden fees.
Himalayas offers an optional paid subscription for job seekers who want additional AI-powered tools:
- Himalayas Plus ($9/month) — Unlimited AI resumes, cover letters, mock interviews, career coaching, 100 AI headshots/month, and daily job alerts
- Himalayas Max ($29/month) — Everything in Plus with 500 AI headshots/month and 4 hours/month of voice interview practice
You never need to pay to search for or apply to jobs. The paid tools are designed to help you create stronger applications, not to gate basic job search functionality.
For employers, posting jobs, creating company profiles, and messaging candidates are also free. The only paid employer feature is pinned job posts ($199 per listing) for premium placement.
