Account and Privacy Settings

You can control your profile visibility, manage your account settings, and permanently delete your account at any time from your Himalayas settings. After deletion, your profile is immediately removed from Himalayas and de-indexed from search engines within 1–7 days.

How do I make my profile private?

You can hide your profile from the public talent directory and search engines at any time.

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy
  2. Toggle your profile visibility to private
  3. Save your changes

When your profile is set to private, it will no longer appear in the talent directory, in search engine results, or to employers browsing Himalayas. You can still apply for jobs, use AI tools, and access all platform features — your profile simply won't be publicly visible.

You can switch your profile back to public at any time from the same settings page.

How do I change my email address?

  1. Go to Settings > Emails
  2. Add your new email address
  3. Verify it through the confirmation email
  4. Set it as your primary email
  5. Optionally remove your old email address

How do I change my password?

  1. Go to Settings > Password
  2. Enter your current password
  3. Enter and confirm your new password
  4. Save

If you signed up with Google and don't have a password set, you can add one from this page. If you've forgotten your password, use the reset password page.

How do I cancel my Himalayas Plus subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time. There are two ways:

Self-service (recommended):

  1. Go to Settings > Subscription
  2. Click "Cancel subscription"
  3. Your access to Plus features continues until the end of your current billing period

Via email:

Send an email to hi@himalayas.app requesting cancellation. The team will process it and confirm.

After cancellation, you keep access to all Plus features until your current billing period ends. You will not be charged again. Your account reverts to the free tier, and any resumes, cover letters, or other content you created with Plus tools remains accessible.

How do I delete my account?

You can permanently delete your account from your settings.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page
  3. Click "Delete account"
  4. Confirm the deletion

What happens when you delete your account:

  • Your profile is immediately removed from Himalayas
  • Any direct link to your profile (e.g., himalayas.app/user/yourname) will return a 404 page
  • Your data is deleted from our systems
  • If you had an active Plus subscription, it is cancelled automatically
  • Resumes, cover letters, and other generated content associated with your account are deleted

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want to use Himalayas again after deleting your account, you will need to create a new account.

My name still appears on Google after deleting my account. How do I remove it?

Why it happens: When your profile was public, Google indexed it and saved a cached copy. After you delete your account, the page on Himalayas returns a 404, but Google's cache takes time to update.

What Himalayas does automatically: When you delete your account, we submit a de-indexing request to Google on your behalf.

If your information still appears:

  1. Note the exact URLs where your information appears in Google search results. They typically look like https://himalayas.app/talent/some-keyword?page=123 or https://himalayas.app/user/yourname
  2. Fill out the Google Search removal request form with those URLs
  3. We will submit the removal through Google Search Console on your behalf

Important: If you click one of these Google results, you will see a 404 page — your data is already gone from Himalayas. The Google listing is a stale cache entry that will be removed once Google re-crawls the page.

What data does Himalayas store?

Himalayas stores the information you provide when creating and using your account:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (hashed)
  • Profile information: skills, experience, education, bio, profile photo, timezone, salary expectations, and job preferences
  • Generated content: resumes, cover letters, and headshots you create using AI tools
  • Application tracking data: jobs you've tracked in the application tracker
  • Usage data: basic analytics like page views and feature usage to improve the platform

Himalayas does not sell your personal data to third parties. Your profile information is only visible to employers if your profile is set to public.

How do I control who sees my profile?

Your profile visibility depends on your privacy settings:

SettingWho can see your profileAppears in talent directoryIndexed by Google
PublicAnyone on the internetYesYes
PrivateOnly youNoNo

Regardless of your visibility setting, companies can always see your name and profile information if you apply to one of their jobs — because you are choosing to share that information when you apply.

To change your visibility, go to Settings > Privacy.

How do I unsubscribe from Himalayas emails?

You can manage your email preferences or unsubscribe from specific types of emails:

  • Job alert emails: Click the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any job alert email, or adjust your preferences in Settings > Emails
  • Product updates: Click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of the email
  • All emails: Use the unsubscribe link in any email, which takes you to a page where you can opt out of all communications

Note: Transactional emails (like password resets or subscription confirmations) cannot be unsubscribed from as they are required for account functionality.

I want to keep my account but remove my information from Google

If you want to stay on Himalayas but don't want your profile appearing in Google search results:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy
  2. Set your profile to private
  3. Once your profile is private, Google will de-index it during its next crawl cycle

If you need faster removal, fill out the Google Search removal request form with the specific Google result URLs and the team will submit the removal through Google Search Console.

Something is wrong with my account. Who do I contact?

For any account issues not covered here — login problems, unexpected charges, or anything else — email hi@himalayas.app.

If you are unable to sign in, try the following before contacting support:

  1. Try signing in using an incognito/private browser window
  2. Try a different browser (Chrome or Safari recommended)
  3. If you signed up with Google, make sure you are clicking "Sign in with Google" rather than entering an email and password
  4. Use the reset password page if you have forgotten your password
