Michael Mayo

As Principal AI Scientist at Lonrix Ltd. since January 2023, I lead several AI and machine learning projects. These include computer vision based projects such as fault (e.g. road pavement cracking) detection from videos of road surveys as well as non-image based projects such as road deterioration prediction for forward planning. In each case we use AI to enable clients to get maximum benefit from their data. Since the industry I work primarily does things manually, we can provide massive cost savings.

Simultaneously, I also do contract work with other startups needing to integrate or develop AI into their software products. Once example of this is Cattrax Ltd, a medical information system company focussed on cataract surgery. I have assisted in the development of an edge-based computer vision system for monitoring and summarising cateract surguries in real time.

I have a prior career as an academic where I conducted research for many years into AI, deep learning, machine learning, and I have a great deal of experience supervising student projects in this area.
