William Forty

Leading the end-to-end migration from a monolithic chatbot app to a multi-tenant microservices platform on AWS, and leading the company's move to agentic AI. Built an AI support agent and the knowledge system behind it, and introduced AI code review across the organisation.

Led frontend development of a prediction market on Bitcoin mining difficulty, building the platform from the ground up with Next.js, TypeScript, React, and Tailwind CSS. Integrated Web3 technologies and discovered critical smart-contract bugs before launch.

Delivered new features for the first FCA-regulated digital securities exchange, broker and custodian in the UK. Designed, built and maintained back end services in Node.js, Express.js and TypeScript, and developed the front end with React and Redux.

Delivered features for a cloud-based collateral management platform, and was promoted to Lead in March 2022. Took on refinement, design, strategy and mentoring, and kept test coverage high with Jest and Jasmine.

Took part in planning, design and implementation of new features for the Nationwide Internet Bank, using C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET and MVC. Led the project to move code repositories from TFVC to Git, and wrote a reverse proxy and caching system in Node.js.

Led a team to first place at CDK's Connect Hackathon with a static-analysis parser that found around 1 million lines of dead code. Progressed through roles including Senior Developer, Technical Lead, and Scrum Master, building CI tools, IDE extensions, and low-level APIs.

Started as a CAD technician on river and dam engineering projects and moved into software by automating the work. Built productivity tools in Visual Basic and an internal content management tool in PHP, JavaScript and CSS.

Managed national price changes for newspapers and magazines in SAP, and built VBA tools to speed up data handling and catch anomalies.

Completed an engineering apprenticeship straight from school, covering CAD, planning, press tool maintenance, machining and electrical diagnostics.

Grade: First Class

BSc (Hons) Computing with First Class honours from the University of Wales, Newport, completed in 2012.

Completed an NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering through BMW Group.

Earned an HNC and National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from Swindon College.
