Jason Chang

I am a full-stack software engineer with 13 years building scalable web applications across startups and high-growth companies. I specialize in modern JavaScript frameworks and backend systems, delivering end-to-end product features that balance performance and developer experience.

At Stripe I led work across Payments, Checkout and the Dashboard, building microservices in Go and Java, designing APIs, and launching features like Stripe Terminal and enhancements to Radar’s fraud detection. I built an AI-powered fraud analysis pipeline using Python, Pandas, Kafka and PostgreSQL that reduced false positives and chargebacks. I also developed an internal AI assistant with TypeScript, React and Node.js to improve engineering productivity.

Earlier at Shopify I advanced from junior engineer to senior, contributing to Shopify Payments, the App Store redesign and the foundations of Shopify Pay while migrating legacy frontends to React and TypeScript. I focused on reliability, scaling using sharding and read replicas, background processing, and maintaining strong test coverage.

I enjoy mentoring engineers, driving architecture improvements, and creating observable, maintainable systems with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms. I am product-oriented, pragmatic, and committed to building developer-friendly tooling and high-performance user experiences.
