Built a high-throughput ingestion pipeline enabling teams to publish data products to a data mesh. Delivered the solution with Java 17 and Kafka-based streaming to AWS data infrastructure.

Optimized domain model relationships, background jobs, scaling, and caching for a corporate travel/expense management platform. Migrated a legacy search application to Quarkus and improved performance and maintainability.

Led full frontend and backend development to make web3 (NFT minting and wallet creation) accessible for businesses, including Solana integrations. Designed backend services for Discord bot rewards with automated wallet creation and migrated infrastructure to a self-managed Heroku deployment.

Built Node.js Swagger-based backend APIs for a website, handling storage/retrieval with Postgres and AWS Cognito OAuth2 security. Led mParticle customer data platform integration and delivered integration and load testing for latency/throughput.

Developed Node.js APIs and ETLs powering Whistle/Kinship applications, integrating Postgres and Elasticsearch. Implemented authentication with AWS Cognito (including federation) and built REST infrastructure and notification/ETL services for downstream indexing.

Optimized Apache Spark ingestion jobs in a Hadoop/Cloudera environment to improve performance and reduce ingestion times. Enhanced APIs for recommendation data, built a QA app for validating optimized versus legacy outputs, and orchestrated workflows with Airflow.

Built Go APIs supporting Vroom’s end-to-end e-commerce solution. Implemented event/data APIs with Kafka and GraphQL/Hasura and validated behavior with tests.

Implemented the Account Management II service in Go and supported GraphQL/Hasura-based operations. Integrated authentication and storage using AWS Cognito and JWT with PostgreSQL.

Built Go implementation for Account Management I, wrapping AWS Cognito-backed security for user authentication and credential flows. Supported secure endpoints for sign up, sign in, and password change.

Built an ESB exposing synchronous and asynchronous APIs to Vroom internal systems and third parties. Implemented streaming and local testing support for event-driven integrations.

Delivered energy consumption monitoring features using thermostats and sensors. Built a floor plan UI component for uploading SVGs, mapping them to sensor assets, and rendering them in the product.

Built an ETL and marketing sourcing feed for vehicle data, supporting services such as Homenet and Facebook. Supported data ingestion and processing for multiple inventory states.

Developed a web app for customer service agents to search a post-sales vehicle information database. Implemented frontend and supporting services for agent workflows using cloud infrastructure.

Built a RESTful email/SMS service capturing SendGrid/Twilio webhook events for open/delivery/bounce reporting and engagement analytics. Supported analytics-driven notification reporting for the organization.

Built a web app for Vroom admins to search inventory, create smart lists, and automatically upload car listings to third-party sites. Supported automated listing workflows for administrative users.

Developed microservices that provided data to many applications across the organization. Implemented serverless functions and operational tooling for data-serving endpoints.

Built an automated chatbot interacting with customers via Facebook Messenger, Skype, and other platforms. Implemented a webhook app using an NLP provider to convert conversations into actionable tasks and deliver custom content.

Built an LSE course search engine including an ETL pipeline to load course data into Solr, plus a Grails REST API and Angular frontend. Implemented backend search functionality and a functional test suite using Geb.

Worked on an internet hotel search and booking engine with a Groovy/Grails CMS and RESTful service layer for iPad/iPhone clients. Helped introduce JRebel and expanded adoption of Spring Data, Groovy, and Grails.

Built Capitec Bank’s mobile internet portal with Java and Spring MVC. Implemented mobile web services and automated testing using JUnit and Mockito.

Worked on an anti-fraud information system for the EU anti-fraud community, including the Mutual Access Broker (MAB) module for capturing customs and seizures. Led introduction of Spring into the OLAF stack.

Developed software for FedEx’s automated sorting/scanning/delivery hub, including a Swing frontend and server-side web services and EJBs. Introduced a UI testing framework and unit/integration testing strategies.

Worked on Interconnect Optimized Routing, enabling network management based on actual network traffic. Introduced unit-testing best practices and built Java/Spring-based components and tooling.

Built part of the O2 portal where mobile subscribers view billing information and manage their account. Implemented Spring MVC and web services with supporting security and unit testing.

Developed an e-procurement application for retailers with Struts and EJB, backed by Oracle. Implemented core application flows and integrations with database resources.

Built a Dublin City University web app for students to apply for co-op placements and for employers to post vacancies and schedule interviews. Implemented an email notification engine using Spring and Velocity.

Implemented VHI’s claims processing system with automatic claim adjudication. Built JSF frontend components communicating with Oracle via EJB and TopLink.

Built an exception conferencing system leveraging Avaya SIP-based telephony products and integrated services via ServiceMix. Developed a VoiceXML component and supported web services and BPEL workflows.

Developed an e-commerce internet booking engine allowing direct flight sales to customers. Implemented a payment service provider interface to handle credit card payments.

Built a leisure travel solution (package holiday booking) for German, French, and UK travel agencies, including a rich GUI for tailoring itineraries. Implemented booking components with Java, Swing, JDBC, web services, and database integration.

Built a B2B internet portal for Amadeus Germany with services and products tailored per travel agency. Implemented Struts-based backend and EJB components with XML transformation and Oracle persistence.

Built a web app for Amadeus employees to search logged errors from backend booking systems. Implemented servlets/JSP with JDBC and JavaScript for the search experience.

Developed a timetable viewing, seat booking, and ticket printing application for German travel agencies with a simplified UI. Implemented backend features including XML, sockets, and database access.
