Our mission
We're making Africa the first cashless continent.
In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.
Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that's where you come in.....
How you'll help us achieve it
We’re looking for someone to grow Wave from zero to thousands of users in new markets.
Here’s some of what that will involve:
- Identify the most promising growth opportunities.
- Grow our user base from week to week
- Recruit and train agents in strategic locations.
- Convince the people around those agents to try Wave.
- Solve any problems that arise until they love our product.
- Build and oversee teams that will repeat this process in more and more places until we’re an unstoppable force
- Agent Management - recruits new agents and ensures they’re providing excellent service.
- Growth - recruits new users and gets them to start and keep using Wave.
- Liquidity - ensures agents always have enough cash and float to serve users.
This isn't a typical 9-5 job – on some days you will be at a port early in the morning speaking to fishermen. On other days you'll be visiting potential office space or carrying out phone interviews.
That being said, it's a marathon, not a sprint! We care deeply about our employees and want to make sure you take the time off you need and take care of yourself so you can be your happiest and most productive.
