🙌 About The Role

Are you an Engineer with a passion for building user-friendly web applications, passionate about automation and eager to leverage AI technologies or other innovative tools to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency? Join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our SaaS B2B product. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, reusable frontend components while collaborating closely with developers, product managers, and designers. You'll have the autonomy to enhance the maintainability and security of our application, ensuring it remains cutting-edge.

As a Fullstack Engineer, you’ll design and implement scalable, reusable frontend and backend components, collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers, and have the autonomy to improve the maintainability, security, and performance of our application. If you have some professional AI experience, that’s a plus - but what matters most is your passion for automation and problem-solving.

🔧 Tech Stack Approach

We serve our customers through a web app built with React, TypeScript, Webpack, Next.js, and other technologies, which communicates with a REST API built with Ruby on Rails, Postgres, and Redis. We are currently exploring opportunities to integrate AI-driven automation and modern Ruby on Rails frontend technologies such as Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus.

Our development workflow includes:

  • GitHub for version control and code reviews

  • Semaphore and GitHub Actions for CI/CD

  • Rollbar for production error tracking

🎯 What You’ll Do

  • Build Scalable Solutions: Design and develop scalable, reusable components that enhance both the user and developer experience.

  • Drive Automation Innovation: Identify opportunities for automation and AI integration to streamline operations and improve user experience.

  • Champion Best Practices: Lead by example in encouraging and implementing engineering best practices across the team.

  • Enhance Application Integrity: Improve maintainability, security, and performance while reducing technical debt and ensuring dependencies are up to date.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, product, and design teams to drive innovation and ensure seamless execution of projects.

  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with other departments, such as marketing, sales, and customer success, to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into the product development process.

🌟 What We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • 4+ years in software engineering

  • Mastery of TypeScript, and modern frameworks like React, Next.js, and Redux.

  • While not mandatory, experience with Ruby on Rails or similar backend technologies is a plus.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining design systems, ensuring consistency and high-quality standards across the company’s products.

  • Have a strong interest in automation and AI, with some professional experience being a plus.

  • Have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and developers.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Are fluent in English, both written and spoken, to succeed in our remote, partly asynchronous work environment.

If you’re excited about leveraging automation while focusing on fullstack engineering, we’d love to hear from you!

At Localyze, we’re on a mission to help 100 million people immigrate across borders. To do this, we’re reimagining how people move for work by bringing together seamless technology, transparency and unrivaled service. We believe in a world where companies can hire from everywhere — and people can live and work where they want.

We believe borders shouldn't be blockers. Talent should be free to move across the world, and companies empowered to support their peoples' mobility, without bureaucracy holding them back. We don't just imagine a world like this -- we build it, through seamless technology, unrivalled service, and collaborative partnerships.

For Localyze’s founders, Hanna, Lisa, and Franzi, global mobility has been a constant part of life. Growing up in Hamburg, Germany near the Danish border, it was easy and fairly common to visit Denmark. However, as the founders began working abroad, it quickly became apparent that not all travel or relocation was as easy as their trips to Denmark.

After a difficult relocation in Shanghai, Hanna wondered if it would be possible to make moving across borders easier from an employee perspective. Meanwhile, in Hamburg, Lisa relocated more than 300 people as part of her role in HR, and knew that companies needed a way to make obtaining visas for employees easier. Out of those experiences, Localyze was founded in 2018 when the founders reunited in their hometown of Hamburg.

Culture

With almost 100 Localitos from more than 15 unique nationalities distributed across 4 continents, we embody the diversity of the talent we support. We share and respect each of our cultures and traditions, creating a sense of belonging and support.

  • Approachable: We strive to be open and inviting, with great respect and empathy for one another.

  • Honest and authentic: We communicate directly and honestly with one another and our customers.

  • Inclusive and Accountable: We encourage all Localitos to not only own their specific roles, but participate in larger decisions company-wide. Everyone has an impact, and we collectively make Localyze the best it can be.

  • Ambitious: We are all passionate about breaking down borders and strive to improve the pain points that currently exist with global mobility.

  • Collaborative: Localitos work with an “all in this together” mentality, working across time zones and departments to reach our goals.
