Michaela Shanahan

I’m an HR Manager with ten years of experience managing and coordinating HR functions while facilitating the planning and execution of policies and procedures. I bring strength across all aspects of HR management, including payroll administration, compliance reports, employment laws, and talent management.

Most recently, I worked in remote HR and payroll for California-based packaging design firms (Treeform Packaging Solutions, LLC and Packaging Options USA). I managed onboarding and offboarding, maintained staff files, ran bimonthly payroll, administered 401K and staff benefit packages, and advised leadership on state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Before that, I was the sole HR and Business Manager for a 100% virtual boutique PR firm (Bospar Public Relations) based in San Francisco, supporting remote operations nationwide. I initiated and maintained the 401K plan, managed compensation and benefits, advised on compliance, and handled accounts receivable/payable while also overseeing payroll and employment operations.

I’m comfortable advising leadership across risk and operations—managing PTO and family leave, workers’ comp, and maintaining the company handbook. I also bring a start-up mindset from acting as an HR consultant for tech start-ups, and I’m proud of being the dependable, hands-on partner who keeps details moving as a business grows.
