Alissa Underfer

I've supported students with intellectual disabilities through specially designed instruction, accommodations, Individual Education Plans, and data-driven educational decisions across OneSchoolGlobal, Indianapolis Public Schools, Westfield Washington High School, Johnston High School, and West Des Moines Community Schools.

At West Des Moines Community Schools, I managed the life-transition cycle for more than 900 special-needs students. I developed curriculum and transition plans, taught vocational and job-coaching courses, partnered with local businesses on hiring opportunities, and delivered professional development for administrators, educators, and community businesses.

I've also taught undergraduate and graduate online courses at Morningside University, Buena Vista University, and William Penn University on special education teaching, leadership, and curriculum development.

My work centers on practical, individualized learning and trusted collaboration with students, families, educators, community partners, and support professionals. I bring experience supporting culturally diverse families and helping adults build positive daily living, learning, and employment habits.
