The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule in our Charlotte or Detroit office, in office a few days each week with some remote days.
The Operational Risk Manager will be responsible for the oversight of the Enterprise Issue Management Program. The candidate will establish or enhance the Issue Management Policy, Standard, and accompanying Procedures, conduct analytics and reporting on program results, and participate in maturing the Issue Management Program. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills and be capable of providing direction and collaborate with Independent Risk Management and Business Lines to implement and maintain sound risk management practices.
The Work Itself
- Establish, execute, and manage Issue Management process and routines to drive ongoing oversight and enforcement of standards across the enterprise to enable a strong risk management culture.
- Implement policy, framework, standards, procedures, and supporting technology for the Enterprise Issue Management Program.
- Develop and conduct training to all parties, as required, in support of compliance with the Enterprise Issue Management Policy and Standard.
- Perform monthly routines including risk appetite reporting to support the Enterprise Issue Management Program.
- Effective collaboration and diligent follow up with Business Lines and Independent Risk Management teams to ensure timely and accurate execution of the Issue Management program, including the escalation of exceptions.
- Ensure all owned processes, standards, and procedures are kept current, consistent with documentation, reviewed periodically for compliance and assessed against the business need and risk appetite framework.
- Analyze data to draw meaningful conclusions and communicate key findings to the Operational Risk Committee members.
- Provide subject matter expertise and lead Issue Management Program initiatives (Archer enhancements, reporting updates, ongoing Enterprise training, etc.)
- Identify processes for improvements and automation opportunities and develop and implement identified improvements.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5 + years experience required with at least 3+ years experience in financial services. Operational Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Audit experience highly preferred
- 2 + years' experience with GRC tools (e.g., Archer, OpenPages, or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience and with Issue Management Program elements including familiarity of the Issue lifecycle
- Working knowledge of risk management components (e.g., policy/procedures, governance, reporting, risk control self-assessments, issue management) in a regulated environment
- Technical and analytical expertise to support development of reporting -- Microsoft suite (advanced Excel abilities required)
- Must be self-motivated, willing to take on initiative, and capable of working independently, and manage through ambiguity to produce results
- Strong influencing skills and ability to provide advice/direction to all levels of employees and management.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with multiple levels of management
- Strong analytical, documentation, project management and organization skills including attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities and follow through on commitments
- Proven ability to manage and mitigate situations that have potential for conflict

Base Pay Range: $90000 - $150000 USDAn individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
