Allma is UI-less Incident Collaboration. Slack-native alerting, incident response, and service cataloging. We enable the entire organization to resolve incidents faster, communicate more effectively, and evolve their systems at scale.
Allma plugs directly into your existing tooling and incident process and is pre-loaded with configurable, incident guidance from 300+ Engineering leaders. Allma makes it clear who's doing what during an incident, and keeps everyone up-to-date with status updates from beginning to resolution.
The Allma team has scaled fast-growing organizations and run incidents. Lived the chaos and pain. We're a group of empathetic problem solvers.
Our goal— Incident Collaboration for the whole company. No context switching. No anxious teams or customers.
Our vision is a world in which the entire organization is equipped to work through incidents together systematically and at scale. We're driven to solve incidents teams don't know they have, before they know they have them. To prevent incidents from happening before they happen or from happening 2x+. To help organizations consistently learn and evolve their systems and their way of working together through incidents.
Incidents take many forms — breaks in your software applications, customer adhoc bug reports, marketing language mix-ups, people issues, product conundrums, payroll issues. Incident Collaboration is the recognition that everyone in the organization has a role to play in incidents, that incidents take many forms, and that a company likely experiences several org-wide incidents simultaneously. At the end of the day, incidents are opportunities for collaborative discovery — for coming together across the company, navigating problems as they arise, and consistently learning and growing.
Who we are
Working with incredible humans who share our operating principles, who lift us up, and who challenge our thinking drives and fulfills us.
Allma is a distributed team from our earliest days and plans to stay that way. We are an organization built on trust, respect, transparency. We support each other and hold ourselves accountable. We focus on getting to truth, calling out our biases and assumptions, seeking to understand, rather than seeking to be understood. We bring kindness, enthusiasm, positive energy to all that we do. We banter over life's greatest mysteries (What is the secret to the ultimate choc chip cookie... will we play Overcooked or KTANE in this week's team hang?).
Who you are
You are curious, humble, and enjoy solving challenging problems. Ambiguity, risk, and uncovering what you do not know excite you. You surround yourself with energetic people who push you hard, lift you up, and value integrity, resilience, and empathy. Folks who enjoy eccentric banter and spamming emoji reactions on Slack.
Allma Core Principles
These principles are meant to guide our way of operating with each other, our approach to building Allma, and our decision making process.
1. Transparency and Inclusive Open-mindedness
We operate with integrity and genuineness, with our internal thoughts and external actions aligned. We are direct, open-minded, and inclusive. We recognize that "I don't know" are powerful words. We are aware of and call out our biases, ego, and blind spots.
We operate through empathy and listening to serve our customers. We build for our customers’ pain and needs. We seek to understand our team’s needs, motivations, and perspective. We do the work to get in sync even if awkward or painful.
3. Curiosity for Learning
We are fueled by solving complex problems surrounded by people who challenge our thinking, and lift us up, whom we respect and inspire us. We learn from other disciplines— we are tackling a human collaboration problem and human collaboration is everyone. What can we learn from the best models out there? We gather contrarian challenge to our ideas and we do the work to have an opinion.
We are determined. We believe that progress is the product of a continuous cycle of reflection and learning. We recognize that often things worth fighting for are hard. Building a company is hard. Don’t give into frustration, embrace fascination. Vulnerability is key to resilience.
5. Creative + data-driven
Our decisions and actions are grounded in creative + data-driven thinking. We apply discipline: Know when and how to say no. We systematically uncover what we do and do not know and calculate risk to increase the probability of success. We combine this with our creative abilities, connecting disparate ideas and systems in unique and powerful ways. At the end of day, we trust our gut and anchor to our north star.
6. Bias for action
We operate with a bias towards high velocity. We make reversible decisions quickly and irreversible decisions deliberately. We take a product led growth approach to implement fast cycles of learning and evolution.
Diversity and Inclusion
At Allma, diversity and inclusion are core to who we are, what we value, and the impact we seek to have on technology. Allma is building a collaboration tool that serves the entire organization. Our commitment is to help everyone across the organization work through incidents together. Our team needs to accurately reflect the diversity of the people we are building for. Alongside this, our Operating Principles, particularly open-mindedness, empathy, and curiosity drive us to seek diverse perspectives to learn and evolve.
As we work to build a diverse and inclusive company (reflective of our customers and our principles), we actively partner with diverse talent pipelines for our recruiting, as well as ensure we proactively reach out to and engage underreprested groups in our recruiting practices. At Allma, we also hold ourselves accountable to working with partners— bankers, lawyers, accountants... — and have made a commitment that our partners have underepresented professionals on their team directly advising us.
Life at Allma
We are a 100% distributed team from our earliest days. This supports our goal of building a diverse company and supports our team through autonomy, optionality, and flexibility around work.
We invest in our team and encourage them to invest in the communities that matter to them, from full healthcare coverage and help for parents, to stipends for your home office and tooling needs, to additional stipends for giving back to charities and OSS projects that matter to you. Our benefits care for our team and support our team in caring for others across health, wellbeing, learning and growth, helping others, and community.
