Shenita Mitchell

I’m a healthcare professional with 15+ years of experience across clinical care, team leadership, and regulatory compliance. I currently serve as an Accreditation and Survey Specialist, focused on continuous survey readiness and helping organizations stay aligned with TJC, CMS, and AHCA standards.

In my current role at UF Health-Jacksonville, I lead ongoing readiness activities by conducting unit-level audits and partnering with leadership on corrective action plans. I educate both clinical and non-clinical staff on regulatory standards and updates, then track, manage, and follow up on accreditation findings and survey responses—so issues are resolved with confidence and consistency.

Previously, as a Supervisor at UF Health Jacksonville (March 2024 to May 2025), I supervised and mentored a team of 6 medical assistants in a high-volume setting. I oversaw scheduling, payroll, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations, and I led hiring efforts while addressing workflow, competency, and compliance gaps.

Earlier in my career as a Certified Medical Assistant (March 2017 to March 2024), I supported providers in high-volume clinics by assisting with patient flow and care coordination, collecting and documenting vital signs for up to 60 patients daily, and performing phlebotomy. I also maintained documentation and workflows aligned with survey readiness and compliance standards, including patient communication through phone and EMR (Epic). I’ve built my foundation through both hands-on clinical work—beginning with phlebotomy, procedures, and clinical studies—and continued education, including a Bachelor of Science (Business Management/Health Management) and an Associate of Science (Business Management).
