Chali Chilonga

I am a business development professional with experience across merchant recruitment, relationship management, and market growth in Zambia’s telecommunications sector. I focus on turning market research and segmentation into practical plans that meet clients’ needs.

At ZAMBIA TELECOMMUNICATIONS LIMITED (ZAMTEL), I worked as a Business Development Coordinator (03/2020–03/2022), conducting business intelligence through market research, creating and adjusting sales plans, and supporting effective administrative and marketing activities. I also assisted in compiling operational sales plans against key KPIs and ensured strong reporting through daily and weekly productivity updates.

Previously, as a Merchant Recruitment Team Lead (ZAMPAY) (01/2019–03/2020), I led client/partner acquisition and churn-rate management, developed merchant marketing strategies for specific markets, and ensured marketing materials followed brand guidelines. I consistently produced specifications for new market strategies and monitored product performance through regular reporting and feedback.

I began as a Graduate Trainee (01/2018–01/2019), where I supported business development and market strategy implementation through market research and client acquisition. I bring strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to grasp complex ideas quickly, supported by an MBA (2024) and certifications in project planning, research (qualitative & quantitative), and data analysis.
