The journey of Wishup began in 2015, born from the minds of two IIT Madras friends, Neelesh Rangwani and Vivek Gupta. Initially, their venture took the form of a chat-based concierge service, a platform where users could get almost anything done with a simple message. This early iteration, while innovative, was just the first step in a series of evolutions that would shape the company's destiny. The co-founders, with Vivek's background in management consulting at BCG and Neelesh's experience at Rocket Internet, possessed a unique blend of operational expertise and marketing savvy. They recognized a growing, unmet need in the market: entrepreneurs and small business owners were drowning in administrative tasks, which hampered their ability to focus on growth and core business functions. This realization sparked a pivotal shift in their business model.

By April 2017, Wishup had transformed into the virtual assistant platform it is known as today. The new mission was clear: to connect a pool of talented, pre-vetted remote professionals with businesses that needed them. This wasn't just about outsourcing tasks; it was about building a bridge between a global talent pool and the burgeoning world of startups and small to medium-sized enterprises, primarily in the US and European markets. The company established a rigorous screening and training process, ensuring that only the top percentile of applicants would become Wishup virtual assistants. This commitment to quality became a cornerstone of their brand. Over the years, Wishup has expanded its service offerings from general administrative support to specialized services like bookkeeping, social media management, and executive assistance. Their growth has been fueled by significant funding rounds, including investments from 500 Startups, Orios Venture Partners, and Inflection Point Ventures, allowing them to scale their operations and technology.
