Funny name, serious business

We are a leading eco-friendly household essentials business and we donate 50% of our profits to help everyone gain access to clean water and a toilet. As of June 2024, we’ve contributed over $18 million AUD to this mission. Basically, we’re really good at making it easy to do good.

We operate scaling businesses in the UK, US, Australia, and Canada. Our amazing team of 250+ people is spread across the globe, all aiming to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. Over the next 5-10 years, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation tenfold. That’s a lot of toilet paper, and a lot of lives changed.

A bit about the role

In Digital Product, we have squads that own the front door and the subscriber relationship. This role owns the building they both operate inside. As the Senior PM you define the platform strategy, technical foundations, and data flows that determine what is possible for our entire DTC business.

You will be the architect of our internal systems, ensuring they are designed with the same rigour as our customer-facing products. You'll systematically remove the "technical ceilings" that create manual workarounds, allowing our value streams to move faster and scale further.

If you worked here this past month, here are some things you might have been involved in:

  • Shopify Markets Consolidation: Leading the charge on our highest-leverage platform initiative—scoping and sequencing the move toward a consolidated global architecture.
  • Subscription Strategy: Partnering with our engineering leads to structure the evaluation of our subscription platform to decide if we stay, customise, or migrate.
  • Designing the Internal Experience: Mapping how our internal teams interact with our tools from Shopify to our ERP, to identify and eliminate friction points.
  • AI Prototyping: Mapping our own product workflows and using AI to remove manual hurdles, creating a repeatable methodology for the rest of the business.
  • Data Pipelines: Ensuring our squads have the behavioural data and analytics instrumentation they need to make informed decisions.
  • Build vs. Buy: Evaluating new tools and vendor changes to ensure our technical ecosystem remains strategically coherent.

Let’s talk about you

You are a systems thinker who sees how platforms, integrations, and team workflows connect as one ecosystem. You aren't just managing migrations; you are designing experiences for the people who use our systems every day.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Product Seniority: Very skilled in product management with a focus on platform strategy or complex systems-level delivery. You've led at least one complex platform migration or systems consolidation end-to-end, and you can talk clearly about what you traded off and why.
  • Technical Fluency: You are comfortable navigating Shopify APIs, vendor evaluations, and data infrastructure.
  • Commercial Logic: You can articulate the trade-offs between migration costs and the long-term capability they unlock.
  • Practical andCollective AI Innovation: You don’t just use AI tools for your own productivity; you are passionate about moving beyond individual usage to build a shared, repeatable methodology. You want to ensure we aren’t all just using AI differently in silos, but rather creating a "lead domino" effect that improves the whole business.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You enjoy pairing and mentoring others to help elevate the craft of the entire product team.

You give a crap

Do you want your work to make the world a better place? Do you want to work with other people who feel the same way? What a coincidence — us too!

Why should you work with us?

First off, as a certified B Corp™, we work to make a difference every day while maintaining the highest standards of social and environmental impact. With our most recent score of 125.5, we’re in very good company with other exceptional B Corps around the world.

We also believe that helping to make the world a better place should be rewarded accordingly – that’s why we offer competitive, market-informed salaries, meaningful support towards healthcare for our team around the world, generous paid leave, tailored learning and development opportunities, and free toilet paper (yes, you read that right).

Our engagement surveys tell us that our team is really proud (95%) to work for Who Gives A Crap and, well, we couldn’t be more proud of that.

Have you made it this far?

If you’re still reading, we think there’s a strong chance you might be our kind of person. Here’s the thing, though — research suggests that 60% of women and underrepresented folks might have already talked themselves out of applying. Even if you don’t check every box above, we want to encourage you to introduce yourself. We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences makes a team stronger — and the stronger our team, the closer we are to delivering toilets and clean water for all.

Who Gives A Crap is a social enterprise dedicated to improving global sanitation and providing access to clean water for those in need. Founded in 2012 by Simon Griffiths, Danny Alexander, and Jehan Ratnatunga, the company was born from the realization that billions of people worldwide lack access to basic toilet facilities, leading to preventable diarrheal diseases that claim the lives of hundreds of thousands of children annually. To address this crisis, the founders developed a unique business model: producing and selling environmentally friendly toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues, and donating 50% of the company's profits to non-profit organizations working on water, hygiene, and sanitation projects. The company's launch was famously marked by a crowdfunding campaign where co-founder Simon Griffiths sat on a toilet for 50 hours until they raised the initial $50,000 needed for their first production run.

Operating primarily as a direct-to-consumer e-commerce business, Who Gives A Crap has expanded its reach from Australia to the US, UK, and Europe. The company is a certified B Corporation, signifying its commitment to high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Their products are made from sustainable materials, such as 100% recycled paper fibers or fast-growing bamboo, to reduce deforestation. This commitment to sustainability extends to their operations, with plastic-free packaging and carbon-neutral shipping. By offering consumers a high-quality, eco-conscious alternative for everyday household products, Who Gives A Crap has successfully created a scalable model for social impact. To date, the company has donated millions of dollars to its charity partners, including WaterAid and Sanergy, contributing to improved sanitation infrastructure and hygiene education in developing countries. The company's playful branding and humorous marketing have also been instrumental in building a loyal community of customers who are passionate about making a positive impact through their purchasing decisions.
