The Role:

As an ECE Content Writer for New Zealand, you will help create resources specifically designed for New Zealand educators and children. You will have experience teaching in New Zealand in an ECE setting. You will write and develop creative, innovative resources, working closely with our other team members, such as content editors, illustrators, and designers.

This role is fully remote; however, you must be available for face-to-face meetings over a webcam. There is some flexibility as to when hours are worked but they need to be completed within each week. You must be available for weekly team meetings on Thursday nights. If you are working from home, you will need to provide your own device to work on and a reliable, high-speed internet connection.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Ideate, develop, and create innovative new resources.
  • Work and communicate with other team members in a scrum team to achieve sprint goals.

In this role, you will learn:

  • The ins and outs of being a Content Writer at Twinkl.
  • How to respond to customer requests and feedback.
  • The production process required to create new and innovative resources.
  • How a production team works together across different markets and countries.

You’ll work with:

  • Other New Zealand team members – the team consists of other Content Writers, Content Editors, Designers, and Illustrators.
  • Charlotte Smith – Classic Product Owner. Charlotte leads the team from a product perspective, pushing the product forward, staying innovative, and listening to what New Zealand customers want.
  • Your team leader, Shelley Toganivalu, will be a constant source of support to ensure you feel confident, capable, and accountable in your role.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Be passionate about and have a genuine interest in resource creation and education.
  • Have enthusiasm for creating exciting and engaging new resource content for the ECE sector.
  • Have knowledge and experience in teaching within an early childhood setting.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with content editors and other production team members.
  • Be open to receiving feedback throughout the different production stages.
  • Be committed to representing diversity, sensitivity, and inclusion through the work you produce.
  • Be aware of and implement Twinkl Brand guidelines.
  • Demonstrate awareness of gaps in the content market and look for opportunities to expand our offerings
  • Be self-motivated to work independently to complete your hours and priorities each week.

We're interested in anyone who meets one or a combination of the following:

  • Qualifications: undergraduate or postgraduate in early childhood education or primary education or an appropriate equivalent degree.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki. Knowledge of other supporting ministry documentation would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant and recent ECE teaching experience.
  • A passion for teaching and creating fun, engaging classroom experiences.
  • Likes to work collaboratively with different teams across time zones.
  • Excellent communication and ICT skills.
  • Exceptional spelling and grammar.
