Job Title: Patient Capacity Command Center Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Location: Houston, TX (On-site presence required 1–2 times every other week)
Contract Length: 12 Weeks (with potential extension based on performance and project needs)
Compensation: $100-$117 per hour

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the planning, development, and implementation of a centralized Patient Capacity Command Center to improve patient throughput across a multi-site health system. This is a strategic role, ideal for someone who has successfully led similar initiatives in large healthcare organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with operational leadership to design and establish a centralized command center focused on optimizing system-wide patient flow and capacity management.

  • Provide expertise on best practices and operational models for command center structures in complex, multi-site healthcare environments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with system goals, clinical operations, and resource availability.

  • Identify and address operational barriers, support process redesign, and recommend technology-enabled solutions (excluding Epic, as Epic expertise is covered in-house).

  • Deliver clear documentation, recommendations, and strategic insights to executive stakeholders.

  • Support change management and training initiatives as needed to operationalize the command center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience leading the design and implementation of a centralized patient capacity or command center in a large, multi-site health system.

  • Strong operational background with deep understanding of patient flow, bed management, and capacity planning.

  • Exceptional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results under a fast-paced contract timeline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical or administrative background in hospital operations is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with hospital command center technologies or data dashboards is a plus (Epic experience not required).
