Seismic is seeking an experienced leader to head a distributed team of talented Quality Engineers (QE) and Software Engineers in Test (SEiT), and to promote a quality mindset across the global organization. This position will own all aspects of the Software Quality function at Seismic and drive innovative initiatives. The role works closely and have high visibility with Executives, VP's and Directors of Engineering, Infrastructure, SRE, Product Management and Customer Support to ensure overall software quality in development pipeline all the way to production regions, and to set the strategy for developing high-quality software to solve complex problems for our customers and users. This role will report directly to the VP of Engineering.

This is global role - the Director will directly/indirectly manage teams across the US, China, and India

What you will be doing:

  1. Technical Leadership and Strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with organizational objectives
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction to the Product, Development, and Quality Engineering organizations to ensure cross-functional alignment and shared goals
  • Global Team Development
    • Build and scale a data-driven, high-performing Quality Engineering team
    • Foster and promote an inclusive culture
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development at all levels
  • Quality Assurance
    • Oversee all aspects of quality assurance, including test planning, execution, and reporting, and risk management
    • Establish and track quality metrics and KPIs to measure product quality and drive continuous improvement
    • Support both Shift Left and Shift Right Quality expansion
  • Test Automation
    • Drive continuous expansion of test automation coverage across all levels of the technology stack
    • Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of automated test suites and approaches, both functional and non-functional
  • Process Definition and Improvement
    • Help define and establish effective controls and processes to ensure all quality standards are met without impacting delivery velocity
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder management
    • Establish strong cross-functional relationships with multiple organizations to ensure quality standards are met throughout the overall SDLC
    • Serve as subject matter expert on all quality-related matters and act as a guide for both internal stakeholders and customers

    What you bring to the team:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or similar related field
    • 10+ years of experience in management and leadership roles within Engineering and Quality Engineering organizations
    • Experience managing a global team is a must
    • Extensive knowledge and experience of Quality Assurance principles, methodologies, and tools in Software/SaaS environments on public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Proven track record and hands-on experience supporting test automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployments in the cloud, at a global scale
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build empathy and foster teamwork across a global organization
    • Strong ability to handle a heavy workload with multiple projects and frequent interruptions
    • Strong ability to work in a changing, dynamic environment
