The Role
As the Accounting Manager you will report to the Accounting Lead. You’ll play a key role in the preparations of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, researching and accounting for complex transactions. This new opportunity will allow for you to own this process and partner with business leaders to support our growing technology company, while also mentoring other accounting staff.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ownership of full cycle general ledger financial close process and activities related to cash, investments, capitalized software, equity, payroll accounting, to ensure complete and accurate financial in accordance with US GAAP.
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations within the established close timeline.
- Partner closely with FP&A around monthly variance analysis, management reporting, and GAAP reporting.
- Liaison with external tax advisors to ensure timely filing and payments for regulatory compliance.
- Drive the creation and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and system use for automation.
- Application of technical accounting knowledge and concepts to solve business projects and collaboration with auditors and external technical advisors.
- Partnering with cross functional team key business partners across finance, legal, business operations and others to drive new initiatives and special projects.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 5+ years of experience of industry accounting experience
- Excellent accounting skills and strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial reporting
- Excellent Excel as well as analytical and complex spreadsheet skills
- Bias for action, ability to take accountability and ownership, be dedicated and resourceful and drive towards solutions with minimal direct supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Tremendous work ethic - willingness work hard and really commit when the task requires you to do so while balancing speed and efficiency
- Consummate team-player: willingness to do what’s best for the company and the team - humility, coachability, and collaboration in cross-functional team settings
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and financial information.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA license
- Previous financial reporting experience
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems
- Experience working in a scaling startup
Outschool recruits across the US and Canada, and sets employee salaries to reflect local compensation and cost of living. For New York and California candidates, as well as candidates based in Seattle, WA the salary range for this role would be $120,000-$145,000 USD.
For Washington candidates outside of Seattle, as well as Colorado candidates, the salary range for this role would be $108,000-$130,500 USD.
