New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 56 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves 14 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $110M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 300 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

Job Description

The Senior BI Analyst position will engage with technology and leadership to provide and enhance BI solutions that help NEDS to fulfill its mission. The position will require an analytical storyteller, someone who can look at data and see meaning, insights, ideas, and opportunities. The analysis must be encapsulated into BI tools and structured so that senior leadership can yield additional value from the tools. Diving into the unknown with an insatiable curiosity is an important skill for this role. The Senior BI Analyst should be a go-getter who jumps on new opportunities, gets nerdy about data, and efficiently delivers high quality work.

FOCUS AREAS/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Builds relationships throughout organization to understand business strategies, clinical strategies, and areas where analytic insight can add value and provide direction to inform decision makers to improve outcomes and support the NEDS mission.
  • Reports to IT, but will spend significant time engaging with other departments and interdisciplinary teams, including tasks like reviewing KPIs, facilitating the creation of service line goals, and assessing existing operational BI tools.
  • Gathers and documents requirements, assesses complexity and level of effort estimates, prioritizes capacity, and defines development and analysis timelines.
  • Implement findings in Business Intelligence tools, real time dashboards, and other technologies.
  • Develops and maintains simple to complex reports and visualizations, including but not limited to advanced, matrix, composite reports, metrics/KPIs, and dashboards utilizing Tableau, SSRS, and other available technologies.
  • Provides visualizations that allows for key data to be isolated and interrogated.
  • Performs, prepares, and communicates story-based analysis, insights, and recommendations in and easy to understand actionable way driving people and company performance.
  • Drives automation, data governance, and quality.
  • Maintains the reporting inventory to ensure consistent naming, descriptions, tagging, formatting, filters, and share permissions. Organizes and monitors report packages and inventory to maximize self-service reporting functionality and minimize ad-hoc report requests.
  • Leverages industry research, benchmarks, and external data to enrich and enhance the analysis.
  • Develops and delivers training to support self-service reporting, data literacy, scheduling, and best practices.
  • Establish quality assurance of delivered insights and design testing techniques to ensure accurate results are delivered across the business at scale following standard guidelines.
  • Executes on all phases of implementation, including planning, development, training, deployment, post-implementation support, and enhancements as it relates to NEDS BI implementations.
  • Maintains a standardized metric set, definitions, calculations, supporting reports, review, and publishing process.
  • Creates and maintains documentation that includes the design, requirements and user education for the organization.
  • Educates end-users on reporting capabilities, and continuously seek reporting enhancements to support evolving company requirements.
  • Maintains awareness of current trends in NEDS data and analytics systems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred
  • 5 or more years’ experience with analytics in a progressive environment
  • Significant experience with Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, or PowerBI
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Outstanding customer service experience required

This is a hybrid position that will require regulars attendance minimum 2 days a week to the Waltham, MA office. We will not be considering fully remote candidates at this time.
