Role Overview

We are hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to act as a technical authority across Lucidya’s CX platform.

This is not a senior IC role.

You will:

  • Own and drive architecture integrity
  • Lead final design and code reviews
  • Influence cross-team technical direction
  • Ensure systems meet scale, reliability, and security standards

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on backend expertise with strong architectural judgment and mentorship capability.

What You Will Own

  • Drive architectural decisions for high-scale CX SaaS systems
  • Conduct and sign off on final design and implementation reviews
  • Build and evolve production-grade backend services using Python or Ruby on Rails
  • Ensure platform reliability, performance, and security at scale
  • Partner closely with Product and AI teams to translate product vision into robust systems
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and elevate engineering standards
  • Identify and resolve systemic technical risks proactively
  • Champion engineering best practices across teams
  • Leverage GenAI developer tools to accelerate delivery and code quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver scalable, distributed backend systems
  • Review and approve architecture proposals and critical PRs
  • Guide teams on microservices and event-driven patterns
  • Optimize system performance, cost, and reliability
  • Drive improvements in CI/CD, observability, and DevOps maturity
  • Support secure, compliant deployments (enterprise-grade expectations)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to unblock complex initiatives
  • Raise the technical bar through coaching and technical leadership

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 10+ years backend engineering experience in production SaaS environments
  • Proven hands-on expertise in Python or Ruby on Rails at scale
  • Demonstrated ownership of large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Deep familiarity with AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms)
  • Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production
  • Strong command of PostgreSQL and at least one of Redis / Elasticsearch
  • Proven record of technical leadership and mentorship
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills
  • Practical experience using GenAI coding tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to improve engineering velocity

Preferred (Strong Plus)

  • Experience building CX, social listening, or real-time engagement platforms
  • Background in high-growth startup environments
  • Experience improving DevOps maturity and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, etc.)
  • Public technical writing or open-source contributions
  • Experience working in AI-enabled product environments
