JOBJACK is on the lookout for a talented Senior Product Designer to join the JOBJACK Pack. As a Senior Product Designer, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience and visual design of our online platform for entry-level jobs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and stakeholders to understand user needs and design engaging experiences.

You will be responsible for overseeing the product's end-to-end design, which includes crafting the strategy for research and visual designs, conducting usability testing to improve the user experiences including websites and WebApps, leveraging insights from data to craft wireframes and prototypes to optimize customer metrics and collaborate with developers to ensure the implementation of high-quality designs. Additionally, you will mentor and upskill our designers, provide them with strategy, and advocate for the importance of design within the organization.

Responsibilities

This is a summary of the duties to be performed as organised by the following key responsibility areas:

1. Innovative Design Solutions

  • Creates innovative solutions for diverse product design challenges.
  • Leads the design for both new experiences and improvements to existing ones.
  • Plans and defines the strategic direction for future design iterations.
  • Quickly iterates on multiple interactive design solutions that balance user needs, technical feasibility, and business goals, demonstrating adaptability.

2. User research

  • Develops and implements research plans and strategies, including selecting appropriate methodologies such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics analysis.
  • Creates user personas and journey maps based on research findings to enhance empathy and understanding of target users.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies that may impact user preferences and behaviours.
  • Collaborates with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to incorporate user insights into the product development lifecycle.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advocates for design solutions, incorporating inputs from business and product goals, usage data, and research findings.
  • Foster strong collaboration between the design team and other departments, promoting a user-centric mindset across the organization.
  • Works seamlessly with developers and product owners throughout all stages of the production cycle.
  • Effectively present design work and communicate the value of UX to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, while incorporating their feedback.
  • Contributes to the group’s shared knowledge of user-centered design and research methodologies.

4. Detailed Design Execution

  • Develops high-level, detailed storyboards, information architecture structures, mock-ups, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Delivers user-friendly and aesthetically engaging work that produces tangible results.
  • Assesses and optimizes the performance of features through active participation in user research and performance metrics.
  • Develops and maintains detailed user interface specifications.
  • Creating and maintaining design documentation, including style guides, design systems, and other relevant materials to ensure consistency across the product.

5. Process Improvement

  • Validates and iterates on design solutions through feedback sessions, usability lab testing, and live testing.
  • Adapts product experiences for different audiences and devices, demonstrating a commitment to personalization, responsive design, and accessibility.
  • Drives and creates web and mobile product concepts as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Establishes an environment, process, and design system supporting consistent UX principles and processes across devices and channels.

6. Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborates effectively with the Head of Product to align design strategies with overall product goals.
  • Works closely with the Tech Leads and other stakeholders to define interaction architecture and behaviour.
  • Creates and facilitates an environment, process, and design system that promotes consistent UX principles and processes across the team.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, user experience design, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Design or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design of new experiences and improvements to existing ones
  • Proven track record of delivering user-friendly and aesthetically engaging design solutions
  • Experience working with unannounced product details and the ability to drive and deliver best-in-class UX
  • Proficiency in a variety of industry-standard design tools and prototyping software
  • Previous success in adapting product experiences to different audiences and devices, including feature personalization, responsive design, and accessibility
  • Proven ability to conduct and lead user research initiatives and usability testing
  • Ability to lead and mentor other designers
  • Experience working with the MEAN tech stack is a plus
  • Experience in setting up components in FE development is a plus
