The opportunity

A vacancy has arisen for a proactive and self-motivated finance professional to join the Finance team in the UK.

Working on key accounts, the successful candidate will lead on managing the effective operation and governance of all accounting matters. This will include taking ownership of all financial processes on the account such as month-end reporting, forecasting, audit, management of P&L, balance sheet management, budgeting, investment appraisal, cost challenge, new business support, order entry and working capital.

Applicants will have significant financial management experience of a major contract, possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, and have an eye for detail.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the Industry CFO
  • Implementing and maintaining strong governance over key business and financial systems and processes
  • Responsibility for the financial statements including order entry, revenue, project margin, and the balance sheet; the latter particularly includes the management and optimisation of working capital.
  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards and UK legislation.
  • At month end, implementing processes to ensure deadlines are met, and variances or other items of interest are clearly articulated to the relevant CFOs and other stakeholders.
  • Working closely with the Client Executive Partner and the Account Management Team on forecasts and budgets.
  • Liaising with the customer on invoice billing and payment detail
  • Responsible for the calculation in new deals or changes in the current contracts
  • Compiling key business metrics and report on them to management
  • Assisting in strategy formulation for the account, including account plans and performance against Initial Business Case/Current Business Case.
  • Driving revenue and cost analysis programmes to identify and minimise errors/inefficiencies. Support decision-making on project/service delivery options (e.g. better quality, cheaper, alternative delivery team etc)
  • Managing the production and review of ad-hoc analysis to support the Account Management Team (e.g. financial/accounting consequences of business decisions under consideration)

Skills we can’t do without:

  • Candidates should have a professional accounting qualification being CCAB/CIMA qualified is essential.

  • Be able to explain complex financial issues effectively to both finance and non-finance staff.
  • Be able to prioritise workloads and to cope with changing and conflicting demands
