MONTOYUA PONDER
@montoyuaponder
Adult education and trauma-informed educational leader who helps learners persist through evidence-based, andragogical instruction.
What I'm looking for
I teach from the belief that learning is inseparable from lived experience, grounded in andragogy and trauma-informed practice. With 25+ years of direct work in government, social services, and community advocacy, I bring real-world relevance to every course and meet adult learners where they are.
Currently, I serve as an Adjunct Professor in Adult Education & Literacy, specializing in GED preparation and ESL/ELL instruction. I use data-driven formative assessments and accessible, learner-centered curriculum to address barriers to re-entry and improve academic persistence and equivalency outcomes, while supporting social-emotional wellbeing in inclusive classroom cultures.
Alongside teaching, I consult with K-12 leaders as a Principal Learning Strategist, translating epigenetic and trauma science into actionable strategies for curriculum design and social-emotional learning systems. As a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership researching epigenetic and intergenerational trauma, I’m building trauma-informed instructional frameworks that target root causes of inequity and I actively lead empowerment-focused education initiatives through roles as Founder and Executive Director.
