Developed item specifications and templates for the English 6-12 Written Performance Section of the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE). Created item specifications and rubrics for English Language Arts Proficiency for the FTCE.

Elected by university faculty to manage all faculty and shared governance issues, including the hiring of a new president. Served as the sole faculty member of the Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board.

Led all curriculum development initiatives and fostered program changes through the academic program committee process. Developed faculty/course schedules, assigned workspaces, and led faculty and staff search committees.

Created a secondary-level professional development school at TPHS and taught ELA methods on-site. Served as the primary liaison between UNF and the school, instrumental in placing UNF interns and pre-interns.

Advocated for research-based and socially just approaches to teaching urban youth. Worked with local schools and districts, lobbying on specific educational policies and practices.

Wrote and served as Co-Principal Investigator on a $2.2 million US Department of Education grant. This grant aimed to help diverse teaching assistants transition into classroom teacher roles.

Represented more than 600 full-time university faculty in negotiations and enforcement of the collective bargaining agreement. Created compression and inversion adjustments and a promotion system for non-tenure-track faculty.

Taught a wide array of courses in pedagogical methods, sociology of education, and sociolinguistics at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. Created and maintained academic program and curriculum for undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs.

Created partner schools with entities in England, Scotland, and Belize. Recruited students and coordinated and led student study abroad opportunities, writing four successful grants totaling $52,500.

Created a National Writing Program site at UNF and wrote grants to support its operations. Oversaw annual Summer Institutes, engaging roughly 200 K-12 public school teachers in research-based writing pedagogies.

Taught graduate-level teacher education courses in pedagogy, curriculum, sociology of education, and multicultural education. Placed preservice teachers in local schools and mentored them during student teaching.

Developed ELA curriculum and taught language arts to 10th-12th grade students. Coordinated cross-curricular endeavors with social studies and enrichment course instructors.

Worked with struggling readers individually and in groups using frequent assessments and individualized reading and writing plans. Modeled reading activities and developed curriculum and pedagogies for classroom K-5 teachers and 12 graduate students.

Completed a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on English Education and Foundations of Education. This advanced degree provided a deep understanding of educational theories and practices.

Undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship focusing on Literacy Engagement for Struggling Elementary-Aged Readers. This fellowship enhanced expertise in addressing literacy challenges in young learners.

Earned a Master of Arts in English, deepening knowledge in literary studies and critical analysis. This program provided advanced skills in research and academic writing.

Obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English, building a strong foundation in literature, composition, and critical thinking. This degree prepared for further academic pursuits in the humanities.

Completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, gaining insights into political systems, public policy, and governance. This degree developed analytical and research skills.
