@michaelshackelford
I secure and manage nonprofit grants that fund early childhood education, family support, and community programs.
What I'm looking for
At Children’s Harbor, I research, develop, and manage grant proposals supporting early childhood education and family support programs. I oversee the full grant lifecycle, from prospect research and proposal development through award administration, reporting, and compliance.
I work with executive leadership, finance teams, and program staff to build funding strategies, prepare budgets and outcomes, and communicate program impact to local, regional, state, federal, foundation, and corporate funders.
Previously at Eggleston and Judeo-Christian Outreach Center, I pursued grant opportunities, developed tracking systems, designed grant programs, and ensured funder deliverables were submitted on time. At Judeo-Christian Outreach Center, I increased overall United Way funding by 127% and secured a $53,508-per-year, three-year Housing Stabilization Program grant.
My background also includes instructional systems design, technical writing, teaching, entrepreneurship, and U.S. Navy service. I bring experience building practical systems, writing clearly, and managing multiple priorities for mission-driven organizations.
