Akash M
@akashm2
I build scalable AWS backend systems and production web applications.
What I'm looking for
I'm building and debugging production features for Code for Boston's Home Energy Analysis Tool (HEAT), supporting Boston residents within an established agile team.
I've built an event-driven serverless task-processing platform on AWS with Lambda, SQS, S3, DynamoDB, SNS, Terraform, IAM policies, and CloudWatch monitoring.
I engineered a fault-tolerant distributed job scheduler handling 300+ concurrent jobs, using FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis priority queues, optimistic locking, and Docker Compose. I also achieved 95%+ test coverage through pytest integration tests for race conditions and failure scenarios.
I've also built an LLM guardrail and evaluation service that combines rule-based detection, machine-learning classification, risk aggregation, and policy enforcement. My MS in Computer Science from UIUC complements hands-on work across Java, Python, AWS, and modern web development.
