Senior Software Engineer – Data Engineering

Hey there!

As a Senior Data Engineer at YAZIO you will play a critical role in designing, developing and maintaining robust data pipelines using Kotlin and a state-of-the-art data lake with cutting-edge technologies. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless flow of data across systems, optimizing performance and actively contributing to technology or architecture decisions.

This job is 100% remote and can be based in Germany, Spain, Portugal or the U.K.

Your Mission

• Designing, developing and maintaining ETL pipelines using Kotlin and Spring Boot to integrate a wide variety of data sources into our data lake
• Building and operating highly reliable, low-latency data ingestion systems that currently process over 3 billion events per week—with scalability and resilience in mind
• Implementing distributed Spark jobs to extract, transform and load vast datasets efficiently for analytical and machine learning use cases
• Maintaining and optimizing our evolving data lake powered by Snowflake
• Collaborating closely with our Analytics team, empowering them to deliver insights and impact fast.

Your Profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, with a solid understanding of information security best practices
• Proficient in technologies such as Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Snowflake and Dagster, or similar tools and frameworks
• Comfortable working independently in a remote-only environment, with effective self-organization and goal-oriented work habits
• Eagerness to continuously learn and grow, with an open-minded attitude toward adopting new technologies and practices
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, along with a collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills
• Fluent in English with excellent written communication skills; a personal interest in nutrition and fitness is a plus
