Spear Education's journey began with the vision of Dr. Frank M. Spear, who founded The Seattle Institute of Advanced Dental Education (SIADE) in 1994. This endeavor was later renamed The Spear Institute. The core mission, right from the start, was to provide dentists with advanced clinical skills and a deeper understanding of comprehensive dental care. Recognizing the evolving needs of dental professionals and the burgeoning potential of technology, Spear Education was formally established in 2007, with its campus and headquarters rooted in Scottsdale, Arizona. This marked a significant step in broadening the reach and impact of Dr. Spear's educational philosophy.

Over the years, Spear Education has transformed from primarily an in-person, campus-based learning center into a multi-platform educational powerhouse. It has embraced a recurring revenue, digital membership model, offering a vast online library of over 1,500 CE-eligible lessons, team training tools, and patient education resources. This digital expansion complements its renowned hands-on workshops and seminars held at its state-of-the-art Scottsdale campus. The company's growth has been further fueled by strategic acquisitions, such as Pride Institute in 2018, which brought decades of practice management expertise into the Spear ecosystem. This allowed Spear to enhance its Practice Solutions platform, introduced in 2017, offering robust analytics and consulting services to help dental practices thrive.
