In 2015, Outdoorsy launched as an RV rental marketplace and quickly realized there was a significant problem: traditional insurers were not keeping up with the recreational industry, especially those who wanted to rent their RVs out. After years of frustration watching fellow adventurers get treated like minivan owners, the team decided enough was enough.

In 2019, Roamly was born to solve what others could not or would not. The founders, who were adventurers themselves, got fed up with an outdated approach to insurance for the vehicles that fuel adventurous lifestyles. They built something better from the ground up. By 2022, Roamly outgrew the traditional broker-only model by creating the industry’s first RV insurance product that allowed RVers to rent their vehicles when they were not using them. This digital-first approach finally delivered a quote-to-bind online experience that actually worked for RV enthusiasts. In 2024, the company brought the same expertise to motorcycles, boats, and toys, expanding coverage for all adventurers. Today, as a Lloyd’s Coverholder and AI-first insurance provider, Roamly offers innovative specialty insurance solutions for the modern mobility and marketplace travel economy, having grown to over $110M in coverage for people who actually use their adventure gear.
