Global Payroll Lead - German Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Rippling is seeking a Global Payroll Lead - German Payroll Subject Matter Expert to design and set up support processes for handling Germany-specific payroll queries. The role will require a deep understanding of German payroll regulations, tax legislation, and statutory benefits. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience in German payroll operations or support, fluency in German and English, and experience with payroll platforms such as SAP HCM, DATEV, ADP, Sage, and Personio.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in German payroll operations or support
• Deep understanding of BMF regulations, Minijobs, Church tax, Sick Pay, Vacation Pay, and payroll wage types
• Familiar with German tax and social contribution systems (e.g., Lohnsteuer, Rentenversicherung, Krankenversicherung)
• Experience with payroll platforms (SAP HCM, DATEV, ADP, Sage, Personio, etc.)
• Fluency in German and English
• Comfortable in fast-paced SaaS environments and working across distributed teams
