Senior Residential Civil Engineer – Remote Support (Australia)

OutsourcedIn is partnering with an Australian civil engineering consultancy to hire a Senior Residential Civil Engineer to provide high-level remote technical support across residential projects nationwide.

This is a strictly support-based role, working under the direction of Australian-based engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive Australian residential civil experience, strong technical judgement, and the ability to operate independently within defined scopes.

About the Role

You will support Australian civil engineering teams on residential, townhouse, and subdivision projects across multiple states.

This is not a client-facing design lead role — it is a senior technical support position focused on documentation, compliance, and design accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Civil Design Support

• Deliver senior-level civil engineering design support for residential developments across Australia

• Prepare, review, and amend civil engineering drawings

• Develop drainage and earthworks layouts

• Produce driveway, access, and road details

Technical Expertise

Provide expert support on:

• Stormwater drainage systems (including OSD / on-site detention)

• Residential earthworks and grading

• Subdivision and servicing layouts

Documentation & Compliance

• Assist with engineering design reports

• Prepare authority submission documentation

• Draft technical responses to council and authority RFIs

• Interpret and apply Australian Standards (AS)

• Apply state and local council engineering guidelines

• Ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions

Collaboration & Quality Control

• Coordinate with Australian civil engineers and project managers

• Liaise with surveyors, architects, and structural consultants

• Review junior team outputs and provide technical guidance

• Maintain drawing quality, compliance, and document control standards

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 10+ years experience in residential civil engineering

• Proven Australian residential civil engineering experience (ESSENTIAL)

• Experience working across multiple Australian states and councils

• Advanced knowledge of:

  • Residential stormwater drainage design

  • Earthworks, grading, and driveway compliance

  • Subdivision and servicing layouts

• Strong proficiency in:

  • AutoCAD (mandatory)

  • Civil 3D (highly regarded)

• Ability to independently interpret:

  • Survey data

  • Architectural and structural drawings

  • Council conditions and engineering requirements

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Highly Regarded

• Previous experience in a remote/offshore senior support role for Australian consultancies

• Exposure to townhouse and medium-density developments

• Experience in small-to-medium residential subdivisions

• Greenfield and infill project exposure

• Experience supporting projects across NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, and WA

• Ability to mentor junior technical staff remotely
