As a remote Architect, you will collaborate with our local team on various architectural projects, providing creative design solutions, technical drawings, and project documentation.
You will be responsible for ensuring work meet client requirements, project deadlines, and adhere to relevant building codes and standards. This position requires strong architectural experience, proficiency in architectural software (Revit), and the ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the team
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Development: Contribute to the conceptual and schematic design phases, providing creative input and developing design solutions aligned with client needs and project goals.
  • Technical Drawings: Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using software such as Revit, Archicad or SketchUp, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain project documentation, including construction details, material specifications, and technical reports.
  • Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external consultants via remote communication tools. Attend virtual meetings, design reviews, and discussions to ensure project alignment.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with local team members to integrate design intent with engineering, structural, and other disciplines.
  • Time Management: Manage personal workload effectively, meeting project deadlines and ensuring timely delivery of design work and documentation.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in project quality control, reviewing work for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Measures of Performance
Performance will be of the required standard when the following have been achieved:
1. Design Quality & Innovation
Accuracy and Detail: The level of accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail in design drawings and documentation. This includes ensuring that designs comply with relevant codes, client requirements, and project constraints.
2. Project Timeliness & Efficiency
Adherence to Deadlines: The ability to consistently meet project milestones and deadlines, including the timely delivery of design work, technical drawings, and documentation.
Project Turnaround Time: Efficiency in completing assigned tasks, while maintaining quality. This includes how well the architect manages their workload to deliver results on time.
3. Communication & Collaboration
Communication Effectiveness: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the local team, consultants, and clients. This includes participation in virtual meetings, providing timely updates, and ensuring clarity in design intent.
Responsiveness: The architect's ability to respond quickly and effectively to queries, feedback, and project changes, especially considering different time zones.
4. Technical Proficiency
Technical Competence: Proficiency in architectural software (ArchiCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.) as well as the accuracy and quality of produced technical drawings.
Adherence to Standards: Ensuring all work complies with local building codes, regulations, and technical standards, especially when dealing with international projects.
5. Problem-Solving & Adaptability
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve design and technical challenges independently or in collaboration with the team.
Adaptability: Flexibility in adapting to project changes, new tools, or evolving requirements, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
7. Quality Control & Error Reduction
Error Rate: Minimization of errors in design drawings, technical documentation, and specifications. Reduced need for rework due to mistakes or missed details.
Compliance with Quality Standards: Consistent delivery of high-quality work that meets or exceeds CPA’s established quality standards and expectations.
8. Innovation in Remote Work Efficiency
Use of Remote Tools: Effective utilization of remote collaboration tools (e.g. Teams.) to enhance team communication and project coordination.
Self-Management: Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and maintain productivity without direct on-site supervision.
9. Contribution to Knowledge Sharing
Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer: Contribution to the broader team's knowledge by sharing design insights, tips, and lessons learned, particularly in areas where the remote architect has unique expertise or experience.
10. Professional Growth & Development
Continuous Learning: Engagement in continuous professional development, such as learning new software, techniques, or staying updated with architectural trends and innovations.

Requirements

What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Registered Architect will be highly regarded.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of architectural experience, must have multiresidential experience – retail, commercial and hotel experience highly regarded.
  • Experience on Australian projects is essential (min. 2 yrs exp in Australia).
  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Revit (Archicad also desirable but not essential). Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Australian construction methods, materials, and building regulations. Ability to produce high-quality technical drawings and details.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, using tools like Microsoft Teams etc.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex design challenges independently.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in design work and documentation.
