About One Project
We are One Project, a global organization committed to nurturing a just transition to a regenerative democratic economy. We believe that the multiple, overlapping crises our world faces—from systemic inequality and global conflict to the climate crisis—are the predictable outcomes of an economic system that prioritizes profit above all else. This system often uses harm, oppression, and destruction to achieve its goals. Our work is driven by the conviction that practical alternatives to capitalism are crucial for our collective well-being. We collaborate with people everywhere to build the tools, systems, and support needed for the futures that lie ahead. We build deep, meaningful relationships with communities that share our vision for a new economy, working alongside them to co-create the social and digital infrastructure for a more equitable world.
Our vision is of a thriving, sustainable world beyond capitalism, where democratic human systems nurture diverse perspectives, cultures, and ecosystems. A world where everyone enjoys abundance and no one is structurally oppressed. To get there, we operate a set of key, interrelated programs to co-create and transition to alternative economic systems. We are not alone in this work; we are part of a growing global ecosystem of communities, movements, and experts dedicated to a just transition. We launched in 2021 with a focus on listening to and supporting these changemakers, and today we are a substantial grantmaker in the new economy space. Our role is to build shared infrastructure and a network to move resources to community control. We are a values-driven organization, undertaking this work with great care and humility, and we are committed to integrating a diverse array of voices, perspectives, and decision-makers at every level of our process. The future we seek is, in the words of the Zapatistas, 'un mundo donde quepan muchos mundos'—one world where many worlds fit.
