Major League Hacking (MLH) is looking for someone to join our team either remotely or in our New York City office as our Logistics Manager.
Every year, MLH helps hundreds of community leaders worldwide organize events for technologists and innovators. Our full-time team provides everything these local event organizers need, from the first day of planning through to the successful conclusion of the event. As a Logistics Manager, you’ll ensure that our hackers, team, and events receive the support they need to be successful.
You'll work with and manage our global team to fulfill events across the world.
While MLH's League is all about events, this role is all about managing the supplies, backend support, and team that allow event organizers to do what they need. Put simply this is a supply chain role, not an events role.
Our ideal candidate is someone excited about building processes and working with large-scale systems, while also being able to roll up their sleeves and solve minor problems themselves.
Responsibilities
Manage the Logistics team. You’ll oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the other members of the Logistics team, including providing feedback on their work and distributing tasks.
Project Management. Manage a wide range of projects across teams to ensure successful roll-outs of new initiatives. You’ll be able to work with stakeholders inside and outside of the company, identify tasks, set milestones, and hold others accountable.
Consistent Process Improvement. While we’re proud of the processes we have in place, changes happen to the way we fulfill events, and processes often need to change. You’ll be responsible for identifying, making, and documenting changes.
Process Creation. As a small team, we’re always trying new things and developing new initiatives. Once they come to the Logistics team, often they’ll need a process created around them. You’ll be able to develop new processes for what we do.
Vendor Research, Sourcing, and Hiring. We’re nothing without our vendors. They allow us to have the scale that #MLHProvides dictates. You’ll be able to find new vendors, compare services, and hire new ones, allowing us to scale further or make changes as necessary.
Inventory Management. MLH has inventory and assets stored around the globe; it’s of great importance that we keep track of the inventory we have on-hand and manage its use. You’ll monitor our inventory, coordinate with stakeholders to determine appropriate levels, and ensure we maintain adequate inventories.
Logistics Work. While you’ll manage a team, which we hope grows, you will need to be ready, willing, and able to do any of the tasks that your team does, like creating a shipping label or booking and approving travel.
