Labhya Foundation

Labhya Foundation is a visionary nonprofit organization that has pioneered the wellbeing movement in India. The organization addresses the impact of poverty on learning by co-creating wellbeing programs for children in public schools of India through government partnerships. Founded in 2017, Labhya embeds daily wellbeing classes into India’s public school system, helping children become calmer, more focused learners who are better equipped to engage with their education.

Labhya partners with Indian state governments to implement a localized, government-mandated daily wellbeing class delivered by public school teachers. The program is designed for children aged 5–15 (Grades K–8) and is embedded within the regular school day. Currently, Labhya impacts over 2.4 million vulnerable children across 3 Indian states, reaching 150,000+ teachers. Their evidence is informed by the world’s largest randomized controlled trial (RCT) on children’s wellbeing, demonstrating improvements in learning outcomes, anxiety reduction, focus, and critical thinking. The organization is committed to making Social Emotional Learning accessible to children who need it most, enabling them to overcome poverty through education.
