Sales and Commercial Capability Training Manager, Europe - Remote in England

As the European Sales and Commercial Capability Training Manager at Illumina, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our sales team by equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and strategies to effectively communicate the value of our solutions to clients and stakeholders.

Please note that this is a remote position with some travel required within England.

Why You:

We are looking for a Sales and Commercial Capability Trainer for our European territory, who will be working remotely from anywhere in England. There will be required travel to Illumina sites one to two times a month, but could increase marginally over time.

Scope and Responsibilities:

  • Training Program Development: Design, develop and implement comprehensive sales and commercial training programs tailored to the unique needs and challenges of the genomics industry.
  • Sales Enablement: Collaborate closely with sales leadership to identify areas for improvement and target training interventions to address skills gaps and enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Onboarding: Ensure sales new hires joining Illumina are trained and supported well in order excel in their roles. Deliver the new hire ‘Onboarding Week’ and keep the content up to date and relevant to the emerging business need by constant feedback and review.
  • Workshops: Conduct interactive face to face workshops and webinars to deliver training sessions on sales techniques, business planning and other commercial topics as needed.
  • Product Knowledge: Become an expert in how Illumina’s products and services add value, staying abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape and customer needs to ensure training content remains relevant and impactful.
  • Content Creation: Create engaging training materials, presentations, and resources, including playbooks, decks, and guides to support the training initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional colleagues in sales, commercial operations, marketing, and other functions as required to align training initiatives with Illumina’s business objectives and ensure a cohesive approach to customer engagement.
  • Performance Evaluation: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the training programs and continuously evaluate and iterate based on feedback and results.
  • Sales Coaching: Provide ongoing coaching and support to the sales organisation, including role play exercises, shadowing, and individual feedback sessions to drive skills development and performance improvement.
  • Budget and Vendor Management: Plan and monitor budget spend and ensure regular communication with our external vendors for current projects and evolving training needs.

Preferred Requirements:

  • A passion for Learning and Development.
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, advanced degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire audiences at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional colleagues and teams and deliver results in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Strong understanding of sales methodologies, techniques, and best practices with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into compelling value propositions.
  • Highly organised with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience in account management and coaching.
  • Knowledge of the clinical environment would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support training initiatives and meetings.
