Market Access Senior Manager / Associate Director

Location - France

Illumina is looking for a talented Market Access Senior Manager or Associate Director, to join the team in Europe. In this Market Access role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining Illumina relationships with payers in France to make Genomic testing the Standard of Care in clinical practice. Should you have experience with the Belgium and Netherlands markets, that would be an advantage, however, not a requirement. This role is based in France and there is an expectation of up to 40% domestic and international travel. It is essential that you will have professional fluency in French, fluency in Dutch would be an advantage.

The Role

As Market Access Senior Manager / Associate Director, you will develop strategic paths to reimbursement and execute on associated tactics to enable reimbursement for on-market products and new product development initiatives in France other assigned countries in Western Europe. As Market Access Senior Manager / Associate Director, you will interact internally with multiple functions including Health Economics & Outcomes Research, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Marketing. External relationships will include payers and payer influencers like KOLs, patient advocacy groups and professional organizations.

To be successful in the role you will have extensive experience of Market Access / Payer experience in pre-launch and marketed products. Ideally you will have experience and a background in Diagnostics / MedTech Market Access. You will have demonstrated experience in dealing with pricing, reimbursement, and Health Technology Assessments in a relevant local European market (France, Benelux) with success getting products reimbursed. You will have a deep understanding of payer decision-making processes and evidence needed to get positive HTA or reimbursement decisions as well as established professional relationships with key payers and HTA agencies.

You will be a change agent, strategic thinker, can collaborate deeply and can Influence and impact without direct authority. Strong project management skills with oversight experience in both internal and external projects are necessary. You will demonstrate multitasking and time management skills, with strong and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability in participating and leading cross-functional teams, excellent skills in leading without authority, and negotiating and managing through influence.

Responsibilities include

  • Development of comprehensive strategic business plans and tactical action plans to address the evolving reimbursement related issues impacting the healthcare environment, the genomics ecosystem, and Illumina’s business in specified countries. This includes integrated local market access plans for key products, including identifying the clinical and economic evidence needed by payers and HTA bodies, and identifying interdependencies across functions to ensure Illumina portfolio leverage with payers.
  • Lead the adaptation and local roll out of the global value package to enable reimbursement for key product lines by public and private payers, with the intent to support Commercial teams on key accounts to grow business.
  • Be the main point of contact to local Payers; work with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Government Affairs and other colleagues to gather feedback from key opinion leaders / payers and understand reimbursement pathways.
  • For major launches, champion local evidence generation and peer-reviewed publication strategy in collaboration with Medical Affairs and other cross-functional collaborators; translate clinical strategy into downstream commercialization efforts. Contribute to product strategy by aligning reimbursement studies incl. primary and secondary research.
  • Scan external environment and evaluate threats and opportunities arising out of legislation, regulations, HTAs, Government/Health Authorities, public and private payers. Determine their implications—including impact on current and future products—and take action accordingly to protect, expand or create patient access to ILMN products. Communicate changes in a timely, concise, and clear manner to relevant internal stakeholders within and outside of the Market Access function.
  • Shape and manage the external environment and the impact of payer/health policy by mapping the decision-making process, identifying the influence tree and influencing both the external and internal stakeholders to deal with them
  • Develop and maintain a seamless interface with the Global Market Access team members (e.g., Global Strategy, HEOR) to ensure regional data and value proposition requirements are represented effectively, early best-practice sharing & early communication of issues/opportunities while identifying the needs required to deal with them.
  • Cross-functional alignment with other functional areas (Commercial, Regulatory, Government Affairs) to ensure proper value communication with local payers through the different channels available
  • Build and own strong relationships with key external payers and their influencers in the Western European Region
  • Ensure full representation and participation of Market Access function in country commercial team meetings
