The Role

As the Head of Data Engineering, you will define the architectural backbone and scalability of Holafly’s entire data ecosystem, ensuring our global operations are fueled by high-quality, real-time insights. By bridging the gap between infrastructure and analytics, you’ll enable data-driven decision-making that directly impacts millions of travellers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve a world-class data architecture that scales seamlessly with our rapid global expansion.

• Establish engineering excellence by implementing robust CI/CD practices and version control for all data pipelines.

• Ensure data reliability and security across all platforms, supporting mission-critical ML models and business analytics.

• Drive strategic technology choices, selecting the best tools and cloud platforms to maintain our competitive edge.

• Cultivate high-performing squads, mentoring data engineers to deliver efficient, automated ETL/ELT solutions.

• Partner with cross-functional leaders to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical realities.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in data management, including warehousing, big data technologies, and cloud infrastructure.

• 3+ years of strong experience in managing and leading a team.

• 5 + years of strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for engineering complex data flows.

• Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases at scale.

• Proven technical leadership experience in a high-growth or scale-up environment.

• Specific expertise within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.

• Demonstrated ability to scale engineering teams and foster a culture of technical ownership.

• An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or Engineering would be a plus.
