Location:This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have theoptionof being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employeesare required tooccasionally travel to meet in person for business purposes.

About the Team

The Deliver teamis responsible forbuilding andoperatingthe core products that deliver high-stakes digital assessmentsto millions of students each year. Today, this includes supporting flagship programs such as theSATandAP exams, while advancing the technology that enables secure, reliable, and scalable test delivery across a wide range of devices and environments. The team focuses on deliveringhigh-integrity proctoring and assessment experiences,ensuring performance, security, and consistency for students and educators at scale.

Our responsibilities span two primary domains:

We own the end-to-end student testing experience, including:

  • Bluebook– the student-facing desktop application used to take digital exams

  • Mission Control– a large-scale, AWS-based backend that supports authentication, test delivery, telemetry, resilience, and security

  • Test & Results Packaging– systems that ingest, digitize, secure, package, and deliver test content to students through the Bluebook client

Together, these systems mustoperatewithextreme reliability, security, and performanceatnationalscale. Wealsobuild the tools educators rely on during live testing, a new product consisting of desktop and mobile experiences that allow proctors to:

  • Monitor student progress in real time

  • Detect and investigate anomalies

  • Troubleshoot student issues on test day

This work directlyimpactstest integrity, educator confidence, and student outcomes.

About the Opportunity

As aSenior Mobile Engineer, you will play a key role in building and deliveringhybrid(bothweb and native)mobile applicationsfor bothiOS and Androidthat power secure, high-quality digital assessment experiences. You will develop scalable, performant, and reliable solutions, contributing to design, implementation, testing, and technical documentation, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

The College Board, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to education, delivers digital assessments atscale. As part of this mission, we are building next-generationproctoring applications for high-stakes examsthatoperatereliably across a wide range of devices and operating systems. Working within the Information Technology division and in partnership with product, security, and operations teams, theSenior Mobile Engineerwill develop solutions that ensure secure, consistent, and reliable test delivery.

This role requires strongexpertiseinnative mobile development (Swift for iOS and Kotlin/Android SDK), along with experience integrating withOS-level and device capabilities(e.g., permissions, networking, device controls). You will build applications that perform consistently across environments, includingChromeOS, macOS, and Windows ecosystemswhere applicable.

The ideal candidate has experience buildingcloud-connected mobileapplications andis comfortableworking withserverless and event-driven architectures. You will contribute to systems built onmodular, scalable architectures, integrating mobile clients with cloud services, and supporting delivery throughCI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and modern DevOps practices.

In this role, youhave:

Design and Development (60%)

  • Design and deliver high-qualitynative mobile applications (iOS and Android)usingmodular, component-driven architectures

  • Translate product requirements intowell-structured, testable mobile components, driving features from concept to production

  • Build and evolve applications usingSwift (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android), integrating withOS-level and device capabilities(e.g., permissions, networking, device features)

  • Prototype andvalidatenew ideasquickly whilemaintainingclean, extensible codebases

  • Contribute to sharedmobile patterns, components, and documentationto improve consistency and reuse

  • Optimizeapplications forperformance, reliability, and securityacross devices and environments.

Team Operations & Success (30%)

  • Collaborate inAgile/Scrum teams, contributing to sprint planning, execution, and delivery

  • Participate incode reviews and design discussions, helpingmaintainstrong engineering standards

  • Partner with product, security, and platform teams to deliversecure, reliable mobile experiences

  • Troubleshoot and resolveproduction issues, including device-specific and OS-level challenges

  • Follow establishedCI/CD, testing, and DevOps practicesfor mobile application delivery

Learning & Sharing (10%)

  • Stay current withmobile platforms (iOS, Android), OS capabilities, and secure application design

  • Share knowledge and contribute to improvingteam practices and engineering quality

Aboutyou, you have:

  • 5+ years of experience building and shippingnative mobile applications (iOS and Android)

  • StrongproficiencyinSwift (iOS) and Kotlin/Android SDK, with solid understanding of mobile platform fundamentals

  • Experience building applications usingmodular, component-driven architectures

  • Experience integrating applications withOS-level and device capabilities(e.g., permissions, networking, device features)

  • Familiarity withdesktop platforms (macOS, Windows, ChromeOS)and cross-environment behavior

  • Familiarity with buildingcloud-connected mobile applicationson popular platforms such as AWS, GCPandAzure

  • Experience withdeployingmobile applications inAppleAppStore, GooglePlay store

  • Experience working withinfrastructure as code

  • Familiarity withobservability and monitoring(logs, metrics, alerts) for production systems

  • ExperiencewithReact, TypeScript, or modern web technologies, particularly in support of cross-platform or hybrid applications

  • Experience working inAgile/Scrum environmentswith strong collaboration skills

  • Strong problem-solving ability, curiosity, and willingness tolearn and adapt tonew technologies

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (preferred)

  • The hiring range for this role is $153,000–$166,000
