Location:This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have theoptionof being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employeesare required tooccasionally travel to meet in person for business purposes.

About the Team
The Editorialteam is part ofCollegeBoard’s Assessment Design and Development(AD&D)department. We are acollaborativeteam committed to producing SAT Suite test questions and relatedpublicationsthat are error-free, consistent in style, andaligned toestablishededitorial standards. We also edit materials and ensure quality control for other College Board programs, such as AP and ACCUPLACER.We work closely with Math and Reading and Writing subject matter experts within AD&D and other teams acrossCollegeBoard to publish tests and related materials in a variety offormats, both digital and print.As a team, we are in a period of intentional growth and evolution. Aboutthe Opportunity
As an Associate Editor, you will playan importantrolein ensuring the quality, clarity, accuracy, and consistency of assessmentsand publications for the SAT Suite and other College Board programs. You will apply College Board’s style guidelines and industry standards to support consistent, error-free, and student-centered content. In partnership with test developers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will incorporate feedback thoughtfully and take ownership of the editorial integrity of assigned materials, acting as an expert on all editorial matters. You will also contribute to collaborative team practices, support process improvements, andleverageevolving tools and technologies to strengthen editorial workflows, helping to deliver high-quality assessments across digital and print platforms.
In this role, you will:
Copyeditand proofreadcontent[70%]
Copyedit and proofread test questions, assessment support materials, and other publicationsfor the SAT Suite, ACCUPLACER, AP, and other programsin various formats (digital apps, print, etc.) for clarity, accuracy, and alignment to College Board and industry standards, appropriately applying defined scopes of edit
Ensureall deliverablesadhere to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and word usage conventions
Apply College Board and other relevant style guidelines asappropriate toall edited content
Work closely witheditorial peers andcontent developersto ensurecontent ishigh-quality anderror-free, incorporating feedback and data to support continuous improvement
Use research skillsto factcheckcontentas needed
Work with the editorial team tomaintainan in-house assessment style guide
Develop andmaintainproficiencywitha variety of authoring and content management platforms
Leverage AI and other technology/tools in editorial workflows and processes tosupportefficiency and quality
Collaborate with peers and partner teams [15%]
Prepare for andparticipatein meetings with editorial peers and stakeholder teams
Answer questions, provide feedback, share best practices, and support alignment across assessment development workflows
Provide editorialexpertiseto internal and external customers, clarifying editorial standards and decision rationales for stakeholders as needed
Provide peer review and input on editorial questions and discussions

About You
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, orarelated field
4 or moreyears of copyediting, proofreading, and fact checkingexperience,preferably in educational publishing, assessment, or technical content
Strongattention to detail andcommand of grammar, usage, punctuation, and syntax, withknowledge of general publishing and publications standards and practices
Comprehensive knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style anddemonstratedability to applyvarious stylesappropriatelyand consistently
Experience editing and working in a variety of content management systems,technical platforms, and software (Smartsheet,Adobe, Microsoft Office, etc.)
Strongcommunicationskills, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedbackand explain editorial decisions clearly and professionally
Strong organizational and version control skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to managework autonomouslyand escalate issues effectivelywhile understanding how individual contributions impact broader teamobjectivesand workflows
Ability to travel1–3times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business

The hiring range for this roleis $56,000-95,000
