What you’ll do

You’ll be the main link between the business and compliance operations to ensure a robust European regulatory compliance framework is in place. Together with the Global Head of Compliance and Risk Management, you will scale Brex's footprint beyond the United States, starting with the European Union. Your role is to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis. You will demonstrate the soundness of our compliance and risk framework by reporting to the board of Brex NL and the regulator. With the European legislative landscape constantly changing, we expect you to guide the organization in anticipating upcoming requirements on the horizon.

Responsibilities

• Serve as advisor to the business on mitigating client risk
• Monitor and steer (regulatory) risk exposure across the European business and create accurate management information and dashboards to support this
• Take on responsibility for internal and external regulatory reporting under the guidance of the Head of Risk and Compliance
• Drive the execution of the R&C year plan by defining quarterly milestones
• Take on engagement with the regulator (DNB) and manage part of the relationship
• Liaise with other functions, such as Operations and Finance, to embed compliance and risk management effectively
• Oversee the regulatory horizon scanning to support regulatory strategy
• Engage in the growth and development of team members

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance in the financial industry
• 3+ years of experience managing internal stakeholders
• Experience with interpreting the requirements from DNB (and European regulators)
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (AMLD, Wft, PSD2)
• Effective communication skills
• Cultural sensitivity
• An eye for detail
• A hands-on approach, concise and straightforward style
