Looking for a Principal/Staff Engineer role centered on Java, distributed systems, and microservices architecture — ideally where I can own system design end-to-end (Kafka/event-driven pipelines, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure) while also leading and mentoring a team. Open to remote roles with reasonable timezone overlap, as well as hybrid roles

Engineering leader with 14+ years of core Java experience — including 7 years in the San Francisco Bay Area — architecting and operating scalable, distributed, data-intensive platforms. Currently leading a team of ~10 engineers as Java Lead at One2N (client: Smarsh), owning the full DevOps lifecycle for a multi-tenant, event-driven microservices platform built on Kafka, Debezium CDC, MongoDB, and Kubernetes on AWS. Track record of replacing manual, error-prone processes with automated pipelines — including a real-time CDC pipeline eliminating configuration drift across 10+ microservices — and building audit/reconciliation systems that directly reduce MTTR on customer-reported incidents. Champions test-driven development and quality discipline through contract testing (Pact) and automated regression/load pipelines (Gatling) gating every release, alongside hands-on adoption of GenAI tooling (Claude Code) for CI-integrated PR review. Hires and mentors senior/principal-level engineering talent and aligns engineering, product, and platform teams on business outcomes.
