Sam Muraguri

I am an IT and infrastructure professional transitioning into cybersecurity, with hands-on experience in system administration, technical support, and network operations within real production environments.

My experience includes working as a System Administrator at Danka Africa K, a VSAT IT Consultant at Space Engineering Limited, and earlier IT support and operational roles. Across these positions, I have gained practical exposure to Windows and Linux environments, network troubleshooting (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN), and end-user system support.

I have been responsible for system monitoring, hardware and software installation and configuration, patch management, and maintaining service uptime in operational environments. I also work with ticketing systems for incident logging, troubleshooting, and escalation, which has strengthened my ability to follow structured workflows and respond to technical issues in a methodical way.

Additionally, I have exposure to firewall administration using Sophos Firewall, along with foundational security practices such as system hardening, endpoint troubleshooting, and maintaining secure IT environments. These tasks have helped me build a practical understanding of security-relevant operations, including access control, system reliability, and operational risk awareness.

I am currently completing the Google Cybersecurity Certificate and preparing for the CompTIA Security+ certification, building knowledge in SOC operations, SIEM tools, threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response concepts.
