SALINAS VENCES AXEL JESUS
@salinasvencesaxeljes
Aspiring biologist with expertise in bioinformatics and molecular biology.
What I'm looking for
I am currently a BSc student in Biology at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) in Mexico City, where I am majoring in computational and experimental biology. My academic journey has been marked by a strong GPA of 9.0/10, reflecting my dedication and passion for the field. Additionally, I am pursuing an MD at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where I have maintained a cumulative GPA of 8.72/10. This dual focus on biology and medicine allows me to bridge the gap between research and clinical practice.
My research experience includes an ongoing internship at the Bone Marrow Failure Lab at UNAM, where I am training in single-cell genomics with a focus on bioinformatics and machine learning. I have also contributed to significant projects at the National Cancer Institute, where I researched the molecular biology of cancer, and at the iGEM-UAM team, where I led bioinformatics analysis and secured a Gold Medal at the iGEM competition in Paris. My work has been recognized nationally, showcasing my ability to combine scientific inquiry with innovative solutions.
As a co-founder of the Tumora Project, I developed a tech-driven oncology screening solution that earned third place at an international hackathon. My experience in stakeholder engagement and strategic planning has equipped me with the skills necessary to communicate complex scientific ideas effectively. I am eager to continue my journey in health innovation, contributing to projects that make a meaningful impact in the field.
