Risa Hagigal

I’m a Neuroscience graduate and Laboratory Coordinator with four years of academic research experience, plus hands-on Clinical Laboratory experience. I bring an efficient, meticulous approach and a patient, empathetic mindset to every task and interaction.

In my current role at Johns Hopkins University, I manage the daily operations of 20 labs, create Standard Operating Procedures for complex procedures, and oversee the construction and integration of five new laboratories as well as an mRNA center. I also manage procurement of research assets and capital equipment via SAP and maintain fixed-asset inventory.

Previously, as a Clinical Lab Assistant at Curative, I collected and processed 500+ patient COVID specimens while performing quality assurance. I operated and maintained multiple lab instruments (including liquid handlers and thermal cycling systems), performed DNA + RNA PCR, and ensured CLIA and HIPAA regulatory standards were met.

Beyond the lab, I’ve supported outreach and program operations through roles such as Outreach Intern and Housing Director, including event coordination, logistics, partnerships, and data input in Microsoft Excel. I’m motivated to resolve conflict, deliver exceptional service, and help teams run with clarity and care.
