Rashad Lane
@rashadlane
Senior software engineer specializing in Unity XR and real-time simulation, delivering production-ready VR training and multiplayer systems end-to-end.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Senior Software Engineer with over fifteen years of experience building games, XR applications, and real-time simulation systems. I’ve owned work end-to-end—from first rapid prototypes through production-ready delivery and final updates—and I’m comfortable working with loosely defined or evolving requirements.
Most recently, I architected and implemented a networking-agnostic multiplayer framework for a large-scale unclassified VR training platform, enabling backend-swappable networking (Mirror implemented, Photon scaffolded). I’ve contributed across gameplay, hardware integration, and infrastructure for 50+ agencies, 100+ locations, and 10,000+ users, and I document tradeoffs to drive evidence-based team decisions.
I thrive at the intersection of engineering, hardware, and iteration: wiring custom weapon hardware and COTS peripherals into Unity with OpenXR/OpenVR/Meta SDK, establishing Meta Quest/Android build and deployment pipelines, and building systems like a VR “ghost target” with hidden persistent freeze frames for post-action instructor review. I actively mentor through code reviews and share knowledge, while asking focused questions to ensure we’re building what success truly looks like for the people impacted.

Contributed across a large-scale unclassified VR training platform (50+ agencies, 100+ locations, 10,000+ users), spanning gameplay systems, hardware integration, and infrastructure. Evaluated and documented tradeoffs across Unity assets and XR rendering/tracking approaches to support team-driven down-selection decisions.
Software Engineer
Raydon Corporation
Jan 2010 - Jul 2021 (11 years 6 months)
Built and maintained networked training simulation software used at US military bases worldwide for door gunner, minesweeper, mounted gunner, and dismount roles. Modeled weapon and vehicle behavior in C++ against real-world performance specs while ensuring interoperability with DIS and OneSAF simulation networking standards.
Sole Engineer
MOS Recruitment Experiences
Jan 2020 - Jan 2021 (1 year)
Sole-engineered a suite of four touchscreen games designed for military-career outreach at special events, including a path-tracing air-traffic controller experience and a network-administration puzzle. Delivered titles optimized to run on low-spec NUC hardware in travel Pelican cases with a hard performance ceiling from day one.
Amusement Software Lead
Amusement Software
Jan 2018 - Jan 2020 (2 years)
Led software development for Bug Hunt, a standalone VR arcade cabinet with a physical gun peripheral and buttkicker haptic feedback across three alien biome environments. Maintained 90fps+ with deferred rendering and dozens of on-screen enemies/effects, and delivered v1 for the IAAPA Expo show floor.
Educational App Developer
Intellivance, LLC
