What I'm looking for

I'm looking to bridge business strategy and hands-on engineering while building high-impact, reliable products that solve real user needs.

I’m a software engineer with a double degree in Computer Science (Software Engineering Specialization) from the University of Waterloo and Business Administration (Finance Specialization) from Wilfrid Laurier University, completed in April 2026. I have about one year of professional experience, including three co-op terms at CIBC on the Mobile iOS LiveLabs team, where I developed a habit of building and shipping real products/features.

At CIBC, I shipped a SwiftUI and Core ML recommendation experience driven by signals from seven feature areas. I built backend workers that retrieved and normalized user eligibility and state across multiple services into a unified feature vector, with deterministic fallbacks for missing data and empty histories. I also wrote XCTest and XCUITest coverage that ran in CI, and integrated new work into a Swift/Objective-C codebase, cutting rollout time by one week. Outside engineering, I built a financial forecast model and a fraud-reduction strategy for the CIBC Flex Case Competition, and presented recommendations to senior leadership after 5+ stakeholder interviews.

My projects focus on backend, data, and AI systems:

  • NewsEdge: an end-to-end stock sentiment platform with a Redis Streams and Celery pipeline (10 workers), FinBERT and XGBoost scoring with SHAP explainability, and a seven-table PostgreSQL schema.

  • HTAP Data Router: a Java 21 and Spring Boot system separating PostgreSQL transactional writes from DuckDB analytics. An incremental watermark-driven sync cut repeat sync time by 99.7% (7.2s to 25ms).

  • CityMind: 1st place at the FCI x LangChain Hackathon. A natural-language data engine over municipal datasets using LangGraph and Claude, with RBAC and data labelling.

  • OpenLine: an AI voice-practice app (FastAPI, Claude, ElevenLabs) with session-based call management and automated debriefs.

I’m looking for remote software engineering, backend, data engineering, and AI/ML engineering roles, especially on data-intensive products or in fintech, where my CS and finance background is an advantage. I do my best work on teams that value testing, clear system design, and engineers who can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Skills: Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, Java, Swift/SwiftUI, FastAPI, Spring Boot, Redis, Celery, DuckDB, LangGraph, Claude API, XGBoost, REST APIs, CI/CD, XCTest.

Roles of Interest: Software Engineer, Backend Engineer, Data Engineer, Machine Learning/AI Engineer, Full-Stack Engineer
